My daughter treated me to a stay for Christmas. We finally got to visit on March 26th. From the second we arrived till we left it was the most magical experience. The lodge was absolutely amazing.. with everything last detail taken care off. Hot tub was amazing.. complemented by the cozy woodburner inside and underfloor heating. Absolute luxury. Most comfortable bed. Definitely a little bit of heaven. The owners have a vision and are making it a reality… absolute heaven. We ended our stay walking alpacas. Guided by Daniel and Helen. They were absolutely brilliant, not only knowledgeable about the alpacas but also so friendly and fun. We had the best time ever. Can’t wait to go back. Already arranging our next visit. Thank you for the best time… mother and daughter, Heather and Ellie Simpson xx

We booked the alpaca trekking experience as a family day out, and despite the weather being absolutely dreadful, it turned out to be one of the most memorable days we’ve had in a long time. Our daughter Maya chose an alpaca called Macchiato, and from the moment they were paired up, she was completely smitten. The staff were patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the animals. They made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident before setting off, which made a big difference—especially for children. Yes, the weather was awful. Cold, damp, and far from ideal. But honestly? It didn’t matter. The experience itself carried the day. Walking alongside these gentle, curious animals through the countryside was calming, fun, and surprisingly therapeutic. Halfway round, there was a lovely little coffee bar stop with pastries and hot drinks, which was a lifesaver in the rain. Warming up with a good coffee added a cosy charm to the whole adventure. Rain or shine, this is an experience worth doing. It’s well organised, family-friendly, and genuinely enjoyable. We’ll absolutely be back—hopefully with better weather next time, but even if not, we know we’ll still have a great day.

We recently went Alpaca trekking at Ballyburren with two teenagers, one of whom has complex special needs. The alpacas were adorable and we all enjoyed meeting them. Our guide Charlotte was exceptional! Patient and informative she looked after us very well. We will be back!
