What To Expect
Mirador Cerro De La Cruz
We began our excursion by presenting an introduction to the place where we are geographically to explain regarding the history of the place and how the landscape was formed that we can see today when large ice sheets covered Patagonia
Parque del Estrecho de Magallanes
Also known as the Strait Park, it was founded in 1843 when the government of the time showed special interest in the Strait of Magellan and surrounding lands. An hour of driving will take us south out of Punta Arenas where we begin to observe the landscape relief, beautiful scenery formed by waters of the Strait of Magellan, Tierra del Fuego Island and Dawson Island, important in our history as well. We will pass by small settlements where families from Punta Arenas have decided to build interesting places that were originally destined for weekend resting places but that each time extended their stays for the beauty of the landscape and the environment. This excursion also gives us the opportunity to do bird watching. Once at the Fort we will take a historical tour and for those who wish we will visit a viewpoint where we access after walking amid the native flora.

5.00It’s a high quality and efficient tour. The guide has the professional knowledge of everything you will see in the tour, not only the humanities but also the natural environment. And one of the most important landmarks in Punta Arenas, the Fuerte Bulnes is included which is definitely the highlight of the tour. I joined the tour during the early days of April. The wind was strong and cold. Remember to bring enough clothes. Because there are many outdoor places.

Pick up and drop off were easy. The tour operator answered our questions prior to the tour right away. It was a pleasure spending the day on this wonderful tour.

5.00Totally awesome guide! We learned so much about the area from Maritza. As she noticed that we were into photography, she kept a look out on our drive down to Fort Bulnes and so we were able to get some really good pics of local bird species. As a bonus, she was also able to identify them for us. The tour agenda is very good to learn the history of the area. I especially enjoyed walking through the replica exploration ships that were built to scale. It gave you a good view into the life these men had during their years at sea. Maritza had explained about the challenges the early settlers had and how people from all over the world came to settle here for the opportunity to own the land. Sheep farms were one thing that worked out well here, and I mentioned that I would like to cook some lamb. Maritza went above and beyond, getting a local recipe for me, then taking us to a recommended butcher shop and helping me buy all the ingredients! I totally recommend this tour group.
