From the centrally located Waterfront to the quiet bays and panoramic lookouts, you’ll be enthralled from start to finish. These quality electric bikes are easy to use and suitable for any level of fitness. If you can ride a bike, you can ride an eBike! Your guide will keep you safe with helmets provided and full riding instruction. The tour is lighthearted, fun and engaging with the focus on riding and finding the best view points. You’ll get a local’s perspective on the culture and history of our vibrant city and surrounding bays. This tour mainly rides around the Wellington's stunning bays, with minimal city riding.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Riders must be comfortable riding a bicycle on the road (mix of path, on-road cycle lane and regular roads)
Riders must advice height if under 59 inches (150cm)
Remember sunscreen in summer
Please dress appropriately- bring an extra layer in case or wind
Moderate fitness advised- pedalling activates the electric assist
Age Restriction: 13 Years
The tour requires a minimum of two people to operate. We will contact you prior to your tour time if the minimum number is not met.
Riders should be comfortable with some physical exertion when riding electric bikes up hill

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Wellington Waterfront
We ride down the Wellington Waterfront from our store toward Oriental Bay. The Waterfront is bustling on a sunny day and we ride on shared paths.

5.00The tour was a lot of fun. The E-bikes were easy to ride and they provided very clear instructions. There are a lot of bike paths so you don’t have to ride in the road. The views were spectacular. Denny was our guide and he was very nice and very patient with us. I would highly recommend this tour.

5.00Great experience with Switched on Bikes. The e-bikes were some of the most comfortable we have ever rented. Patrick was a great guide and took us to some places we would never have found on our own and provided lots of info and history of Wellington. We came into Wellington via cruise ship and booked this tour independently and direct through Switched on Bikes. They picked us up right at the port. If you are arriving by cruise ship, I definitely recommend them as an alternative to the cruise ship excursion.

Very informative guide around a lovely city. Mainly flat and one very steep hill which the electric bikes coped with easily.

5.00Our guide started with a tour of the harbour giving some history of the Maori people. Then we went to the mount overlooking the bays via WETA studio area, visiting the old prison and their Gardens, stopping various landmarks. It can get very windy enroute but the bikes made light work of the ride. We finished off with a Gelato on the bay.

5.00Wonderful day seeing area on bikes. We were picked up at terminal and taken to bike shop which helped because shop a bit off beaten path. Our guide was excellent as well. Saw alot of area and even were treated to icecream afterwards at a cool old theatre.

5.00This tour is an absolute must. Really enjoyable. Bikes were well maintained. Extra clothing available if needed. Guides were making sure we were all OK during the tour. Loads of information during the ride. Absolutely loved the day. Included is a drink or ice cream, which was a bonus. I did the 4 hour tour, loved every minute. Thank you 😊
