Travelers will glide high above Hakone’s stunning landscape aboard the Hakone Ropeway gondola. As they ascend from Sounzan to Owakudani, they’ll witness dramatic volcanic steam vents and the unique scenery of the “Great Boiling Valley.” On clear days, the view opens up to the majestic Mt. Fuji and the sparkling waters of Lake Ashi below. The entire ride offers a panoramic journey through Hakone’s natural beauty — a perfect mix of adventure and breathtaking sights.
Owaku-dani Valley
Owakudani, known as the “Valley of Hell,” is an otherworldly landscape formed by volcanic activity. Here, travelers can witness steaming vents, bubbling hot springs, and the dramatic power of nature up close. A highlight is tasting the famous “black eggs,” boiled in the hot sulfur springs and said to add seven years to your life. What started as an impromptu plan ended up exceeding all our expectations. Delfo, our guide, showed us very nice places from Japan along with helping us with any kind of doubt we could have, which made the day very bearable, I would definitely repeat.

Our experience with Moses was really special. With his quiet and familiar way of doing things – just like a friend we had not seen for a long time – he accompanied us on this day in a kind, prepared and always attentive way. The Hakone Shrine, nestled among cedars and pines at the foot of Mount Komagatake, welcomed us with its characteristic red that sprouts among the trees and is reflected in Lake Ashinoko: simple, peaceful, beautiful to look at. And the day became even more memorable when we could admire Mount Fuji completely clear, without a cloud to cover it: a rare sight that left us speechless. Moses turned a simple visit into a precious memory. We recommend Moses wholeheartedly: he turned a simple visit into a precious memory.

We had a wonderful time thanks to Taro. He toured us to see beautiful scenery, was a wealth of knowledge on the history of Japan, and shared a real life perspective of modern day Japan. All of this culminated into an experience that we will always remember - truly feeling like he shared his country with us. Practically, the logistics were expertly managed. We covered a lot of ground without any indecision, which we would have certainly dealt with had we tried a similar trip without a guide. He took wonderful pictures using a high end camera. We avoided the tourist traps that would slow our trip down, giving us more time to experience the nature and wonders of Japan. Taro’s English was also excellent, which helped as well.

A great introduction to the Hakone area. We didn’t see Mt. Fuji because of the rain but we saw fantastic scenery. Our guide, Haruto, was very knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed this tour very much. Highly recommend.

From a day before reaching Hakone, Taro had reached out to us confirming the time we would reach and start our tour with the meeting point. Taro shared so much information on the history of Japan in general and the significance of Hakone. He has a lot of knowledge and perfect English making it very easy to understand the culture and history. He had the best tips to make sure we covered the most with the best efficiency. I highly highly recommend him for your trip to Hakone and if you want someone to go around Japan with or Mt.Fuji as well.

Our tour was completely enjoyable from beginning to end. Yuragi was extremely professional and informative about the history and culture of Japan. It was a great touch to use the various modes of public transportation including the cable car, ropeway, and Lake Ashi boat to connect all the highlights. He chose an excellent restaurant for lunch as well. I highly recommend.
