I recommend Bike Maui if you love biking and want an efficient well organized event. Despite the early morning (meet at 3:20 AM), our tour guide, Kimo, was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. His instructions were clear and it was apparent that this company takes safety seriously. The Kona bikes (magically appear at 8000 feet) were in good shape and the brakes worked well. The bike helmets were also comfortable. We appreciated the Helly Hansen rain jackets as it was extremely windy and cold on the morning we were at the top.

We had a great time. The tour is very well organized. Our tour guide Kimo was amazing, shared a lot of stories, which made the drive up the mountain enjoyable. The bicycles are all in great shape and the ride down was easy.

Loved the down the mountain bike ride. Excellent tires and brakes on my bike. Watching the sunrise and the stop off before for star gazing were awesome. Tour Guide Corey was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Made for an amazing day. Thank you! Some recommendations to make it even better: 1) We arrived at your shop at 3am because we were told 3:20am was a mandatory cutoff. No one opened the door until 3:17am. And then checkin didn't start until 3:30am. Wish we would have known that there was more flexibility. 2) No coffee or breakfast for sale in your shop. 3) Would be nice if the all the turns down the mountain were marked with signage back to your shop, or with painted markings on the road.

Pros: The sunrise experience at the top of the mountain is exceptionally spectacular! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the equipment is in excellent condition. Cons: I am an active older adult (64-year-old female) in good physical condition. Although the bicycles have powerful hydraulic brakes, the trip down the mountain required me to engage the brakes continuously, and the constant squeezing caused cramping and pain in my hands. I have only positive things to say about the company, but if you are an older adult with the beginning of arthritis, this activity is strenuous on the hands.

Believe it when they say dress warmly, but in layers. The sunrise was magical. It was a tad chilly at the top, but they loaned backpacks for clothing as you shed those layers. The only drawback to the trip was not being able to ride all the way to Haiku, as there have been regulations passed barring bike tours from riding through Kula, so we had to get back in the van and driven to the next permissible area. Private bikes are allowed though. It was an exhilarating ride for me, only one minor “huli”, but I would recommend this trip to others.

The sunrise was an amazing nature show. It is extremely cold and windy and totally beautiful! On the way to the summit you can see the stars big and bright. The self guided tour es great! I went on my own pace, beautiful sights and we were constantly checked by our guides.

This adventure was recommended by several friends and family…and Haleakala did not disappoint! The staff were amazing and the equipment was great. Dan was our driver/tour-guide and entertained us all the way to the summit.

Just finished Haleakala sunrise and bike ride. Woke up early to get to bike shop by 245, so very disappointed getting to the summit and having to stand behind people to take pictures and see the sunrise. Driver Eddie was very chatty, repeated information that we got later and made several stops, not seeming to realize his number one priority was to get us to the summit so we could enjoy it. He just likes listening to himself talk. I wish we would’ve just drove on our own. Regarding the bike ride: not “easy “as described, speed and hairpin curves. I was happy biking at my own speed but guide Russell insisted on taking these turns faster than I was comfortable with. Wish I would’ve taken the self-guided tour so I didn’t have to deal with this.
