Sichuan Hotpot has a history of at least 1700 years. Today Sichuan Hotpots have been increased in category to include the "Red Pot" (Spicy hotpot flavor with chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns), the “White Pot” (Non-spicy hotpot flavor with broth) and ‘Double Pot’ (Including the first two). With the help of your guide, you will be cooking both the spicy hotpot and the Non-spicy pot and learn to cut and set dishes with decorations, which will be guided by a professional chef. This experience will have a very unique local market visit as well, you will try to learn and taste the different foods in this beautiful city.

We had a fun experience with Lance. We first hit the market where he gave us some insight on local products and gave us a glimpse into daily life of Chengdu people. After the stroll we had some tea and started preparing our hot pot with a professional chef. Very knowledgable and patiently she explained us the key points of a good hot pot soup base. After cooking we were able to enjoy our meal with beer and good company. Thx for everything.

Lance, our guide, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and, focussed on our enjoyment. The tour was relaxed; the food selections were very good; the vendors selected were really good … and … we were absolutely full by the end of the tour. Says it all really … Recommended!

This tour came with a great guide that picks you up from the hotel and takes you to different areas around the city. It is a great way to taste Szechuan food!

Perfect experience! Amazing Chengdu food tour! We had such a fantastic time on this Chengdu food tour! Winter was the perfect host, extremely knowledgeable about the cuisine and history of Chengdu and Sichuan, and an all-around fun guy to hang out with! Our tour consisted of a wide variety of stops to sample the most popular street foods of Chengdu. We also visited a beautiful ancient teahouse to enjoy a snack and a leisurely pot of tea in a very authentic and real atmosphere. We toured the food markets of Chengdu, visiting spice and chili stalls, sampling treats, and learning all about Sichuan cuisine. We ended the day with a fabulous hotpot experience, complete with all the ingredients one could imagine. Winter went out of his way to make sure that my vegan friend was able to experience the tour with vegan options so kindly arranged on all the snacks and restaurants we visited, and we both feel that this is one of the best, if not THE best, food experiences/tours we've ever taken part in. The cuisine of Chengdu is so interesting and wonderful, Winter is the perfect guide for your visit to one of the world's great food cities. He also is able to arrange interesting cooking classes, tea experiences, and more.
