Genuine immersive experience with local guide. Visit the typical Azorean dairy farm, where milking is done by hand, outdoors in the pasture. Direct contact with the animals, including the possibility for visitors to manually milk the cow and taste the milk. It is also possible to pet the cows, take pictures with them and walk around the pastures. Interaction with the farmer who explains the details of his activity. Includes Azorean cheese and wine tasting. Pick up and drop off not included, extra fee will be charged (Free in Praia da Vitória city, 25€ per group in all other locations)

What To Expect

Praia da Vitoria

Here you can visit the dairy farm, where milking takes place in its traditional way (manual milking outdoors in the pasture). This farm produces organic milk. Direct contact with the animals, including the possibility for visitors to manually milk the cow and taste the milk that has just come out of the cow's udder accompanied by homemade biscuits. It is also possible to pet the animals, take pictures with them and walk around the pastures. At this stop, interaction with the farmer is guaranteed. He explains the details of his activity and is always available to answer all questions. This tour is 10.5 miles long through the farmers roads. In addition to the farm visit we have 5 other quick stops (landscape viewpoints), a visit to the milk collection center (where farms sell the milk) and a final stop for cheese and wine tasting (private azorean house).

We had so much fun learning about the cows and the island on this excursion! Victor did a great job teaching our group. We especially liked the chance to taste local wine and cheese at the end. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful morning with Vitor. He and his wife were very kind, knowledgeable, and hospitable. My kids loved milking the cows and have asked if we can come back to visit them 😌. We would highly recommended the tour!

Gonçalo was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable about the dairy industry here and of the island in general. Working in the dairy industry in Canada, I found it very interesting to chat with a dairy farmer and see how they do things up close. The cheese and wine at the end was great! My husband really enjoyed this tour as well.

My husband and I went on our honeymoon and it was the highlight of our trip! It was so much fun learning more about farming on Terceria and just getting to spend time with locals. If you visit Terceria, you must book a visit to the farm!! The cheese and wine after was also an amazing experience. 10/10 recommend

I gifted this experience to my parents for Christmas, and they loved it! They loved knowing everything about the island and were very happy when they finished the tour as it was a day well spent. Could not have been better, I highly recommend!

Great experience! We did the cow milking tour We were picked up on time and provided with knee high plastic slip on to keep everything clean in the field. My 6 and 3 years old loved the experience! They also took my kids to the beach to enjoy some sand play time (too cold to swim when we visited) and the adult had a little wine and cheese tasting to end things and everything was very tasty!

We spent half a day with Vitor, who first took us to a dairy farm, where he explained how local farmers work, and let us milk a cow (and drink the milk with cookies)! We also pet the cows and led them through the fields. Afterwards he took us around a couple of nice spots on the island telling us many interesting stories about those places and the island overall. Finally we went for a wine tasting at his house, with a couple of wines from Pico, cheese, as well as other local delicacies, where Vitor again continued to tell us about the local traditions (e.g. the Imperios). It was like going out with a friend, we were able to really experience the island. Would definitely recommend!
