Group lessons with Soul Surf School are a great way to experience surfing some of our world famous breaks in a group setting. We have a number of beaches to chose from in the Byron/Lennox/Ballina area, and our team are dedicated to finding the best, fun and safest waves every day.
We run the lowest ratio of instructors to surfers in the area, at 1:7 for adults and from 1:4 for little ones. This ensures that all our surfers receive plenty of attention, individual feedback and all the groms are safe in the water.
We have a great range of equipment, with over 80 fun safe soft surfboards and intermediate to advanced boards that will help you to learn faster and catch lots of waves.

What To Expect
Our half-day lesson is a great way to get your surf career started! MINIMUM AGE 13YRS! For kids under 13yo please contact us. Our lessons are specifically designed to teach you to surf at your own pace in a relaxed environment to build further self-confidence so you can continue in the sport of surfing and feel confident in the water. You will learn surfing techniques and ocean safety with our qualified surf coaches & surf life savers. All instructors have vast knowledge of the local area and will only conduct lessons in surf conditions in waist deep water with easy and to ride waves in your first lesson. At Soul Surf School we deliver lessons to adults, families, couples, groups and kids 5yrs old and above. If you're an INTERMEDIATE or ADVANCED surfer and/or want to have the lesson tailored to your specific needs, please give us a call for further advice. Intermediate: can confidently paddle out through waves and can confidently catch own waves on a 7’2 board or smaller. Hopefully See you Soon! Soul Surf School Byron Bay

5.00I had such a fun surf lesson and I’d totally recommend this surf school! The vibe was super relaxed and friendly, and even as a beginner I felt really comfortable. A special thanks to Simon our instructor, he was awesome! He helped everyone, was super enthusiastic, and gave individual tips to help us improve. His enthusiasm and encouragement made the lesson so much fun.

5.00Had my first ever surf lesson with these guys and the whole lesson was absolutely fantastic! By the end of the first session I was feeling much more confident in being able to stand up on the board and being able to catch some waves! Couldn’t fault any of the instructors and they really went out their way to make things as easy as possible for us! I can’t wait to carry what I’ve learnt so far into more surfing in the near future! Couldn’t recommend doing this more!

5.00Super great lesson with Lottie! She made it easy to learn the 3 step moves and was super friendly and easy to get along with! Felt super safe and comfortable in the water with her and she helped us all catch some great waves and we were all standing by the end of the session! We didn’t surf on the main beach in Byron but only drove for 20 minutes South for better waves. Great fun and a great company to go with even having a quick dip in the Lennox head tea tree lake at the end of the session ! Unfortunately no photographer on the day I went but refund for pre bought photos sorted quickly

2.00At first glance, we had a good impression and were able to stand a few waves during our first surf lesson. Compared to another surf school in Byron bay we got only a few instructions in Soul Surf School how surfing works, also the group was significantly larger than described.

5.00Amazing experience with skilled and friendly trainers! Our trainers Lotti & Lawrence were very nice and competent. Already on our first day, we managed to stand on the board and keep balance. (I hope the name Lotti is correct!)
