Group lessons with Soul Surf School are a great way to experience surfing some of our world famous breaks in a group setting. We have a number of beaches to chose from in the Byron/Lennox/Ballina area, and our team are dedicated to finding the best, fun and safest waves every day.
We run the lowest ratio of instructors to surfers in the area, at 1:7 for adults and from 1:4 for little ones. This ensures that all our surfers receive plenty of attention, individual feedback and all the groms are safe in the water.
We have a great range of equipment, with over 80 fun safe soft surfboards and intermediate to advanced boards that will help you to learn faster and catch lots of waves.

What To Expect
Our half-day lesson is a great way to get your surf career started! MINIMUM AGE 13YRS! For kids under 13yo please contact us. Our lessons are specifically designed to teach you to surf at your own pace in a relaxed environment to build further self-confidence so you can continue in the sport of surfing and feel confident in the water. You will learn surfing techniques and ocean safety with our qualified surf coaches & surf life savers. All instructors have vast knowledge of the local area and will only conduct lessons in surf conditions in waist deep water with easy and to ride waves in your first lesson. At Soul Surf School we deliver lessons to adults, families, couples, groups and kids 5yrs old and above. If you're an INTERMEDIATE or ADVANCED surfer and/or want to have the lesson tailored to your specific needs, please give us a call for further advice. Intermediate: can confidently paddle out through waves and can confidently catch own waves on a 7’2 board or smaller. Hopefully See you Soon! Soul Surf School Byron Bay

5.00We had a great time learning surfing with the Soul Surf School! We booked three half days lessons and went to different beaches depending on the conditions of each day. The coaches were super nice, helpful and motivating! Loved the vibe of the school and would recommend 100% ☺️

5.00An excellent experience with some excellent instructors! The half day flew by! It was a great group size and we were split according to ability once at the beach. We had 4 to 1 group size which was great as it meant you got a lot of one on one. Simon was particularly excellent when I was having a bit of trouble, so big thanks to him! Mark was also very encouraging, big congrats to him on his first day! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Soul Surf!

5.00memorable experience! $85 for half a day of surfing (including transport to the beach) and we were led by two hilarious surf teacher who really helped us through our first time surfing! the group consisted of 7 people and the two pros, which was a great size. atmosphere was super fun, would definitely recommend going!

5.00Had the most amazing classes (2 days). Everything is organized perfectly including pick-up and drop— off at the hostel. They have the most encouraging instructors (thanks a lot Marie & Simon!) and definitely give you a safe feeling being in the sea!!
