What To Expect
We invite you to an adventure like no other to reach the top, walking for approximately 2:30 hours and climbing about 25 meters. Using equipment tested to the UIAA standards for the activity to be carried out safely. On the way we have the chance to visit some viewpoints that are exclusive to those who climb, besides sharing relevant information related to our flora and fauna. To make the activity even more unforgettable, we have the chance to go down by cablecar, until Morro da Urca, where we have a final hike to reach sea level.

5.00I strongly advise you to take Thomas as your guide! We did 2 activities with him and it was just amazing. It is attentive to people with more difficulties. He's also got a lot of fun facts along the way. If you like climbing: Go ahead! You will be well accompanied!

Thomas is a guide I recommend: he listens, gives you advice and helps you throughout the experience. In addition, it explains the local flora and fauna and explains the history of the country. 5.00An incredible experience, through the landscapes of Rio de Janeiro! The Sugar Bread Trail was conducted by the guide Thomas, very well prepared!! Passed a lot of safety before even starting, well conducted rhythm and constant attention to the group. Clear communication and excellent guidance in the most technical sections. Safe and professional experience — super recommend, and I am already looking forward to the next one!!

5.00About the guide: Thomas was SPECTACULAR. We were two 22yo women. One of us had some hiking experience and one of us none and he was very mindful of our pace and our needs. He also taught us a lot of interesting things as we passed along trees and sites, and wasn't focused only on hiking. Thomas said he takes groups of up to 6 people, but we were the only two that day. The hike was amazing, we got to see incredible views and push our limits further than we thought. Taking the cable car up to Pão de Açucar probably gives you 10% of the views and experience that hiking does. Some of the parts of the hike were a little scary but Thomas did a great job keeping us safe and happy. If you're thinking of hiking, DO IT AND TAKE THOMAS WITH YOU. If we ever return to Brazil, we'll definitely contact him again!! About The hike: The hike starts out with a walk from Red Beach to the base of Pão de Açucar and then you hike steeply up several slabs of rock (mind your footing!). There's a small section where you need a harness to climb the rocks and then the last third of the trail is a normal hiking trail through trees. As you go up the mountain, the view only gets more breathtaking. Thomas recommended that we pause to enjoy the view before getting to the very top where the people who took the cable car were, and boy was he right. All in all, we were thrilled with our experience and it was absolutely WORTH IT.

It is simply wonderful: caring, experienced and conveying tremendous confidence from beginning to end. The way he explains each step, always calmly and securely, makes all the difference to make the most of the experience. The trail is stunning and climbing was an incredible challenge, but I never felt insecure – all thanks to Thomas’s professionalism.
