What To Expect
Isla de Ometepe
Your Ometepe nature experience starts at the Peña Inculta nature reserve where you see lava rocks overgrown by primary forest, home to white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrels, iguanas, bats and many birds. After hiking the reserve for approximately 45 minutes, you visit Hacienda Finca Magdalena, a community-run farm founded in 1888, where you get insight into the process of organic coffee cultivation. A short hike brings you to a site with remnants of pre-Columbian times. Your last stop is Ojo de Agua, a pristine natural spring surrounded by dense forest.

5.00Amazing service that made it possible to experience two of Nicaragua’s highlights in a comfortable way - even with small kids. We came across from Costa Rica, and with help from Vapues the border crossing went relatively easy. We felt very well taken care of, being met by a guide at the border, set up in very comfortable hotels and with an itinerary that made us experience Nicaragua - and having happy kids all the way. Our trip went first to Granada and then to Isla Ometepe, where we had an excellent excursion with nature walks, coffee tasting, visiting a market and seeing some pre-historic sites. When one of the walks proved a little challenging for our youngest, our guide was quick to suggest a different walk that suited us better. I really appreciated the full service and good support from the Vapues team, we always felt like they were looking out for us. Special thanks to Sandra and Obed who helped us carry out the whole thing!

5.00This was a great tour! We only had one day on the island and this tour let us see about 60 of the island. Saw several howler monkeys, different tree species, birds, cattle, horses, etc. The coffee farm was beautiful and the hike to see the petroglyphs was nice. Short walk along lake Nicaragua was refreshing with a lot more animals to see. Ojo de agua was our favorite. If you book the 2pm tour, there will be less people there and you'll have plenty of time to swim before it closes.
If you're interested in nature this is a wonderful tour to book!
