During camel racing season, we will collect you, drive you to Qatar’s racing track at Al Shahaniya. There you will be able to be photographed with camels, go behind the scenes, see both the finish and start line, drive like Qataris along side the many races and experience the thrill and excitement of live races with your guide.

What To Expect

Al Shahaniya Racetrack

Camel racing competitions take place from October up until February every year on Fridays, and the big main competitions are in March and April. The winner is awarded the prestigious Golden Sword of the Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at the end of the camel racing festival which is well-known as H H the Emir’s Main Race.

Amazing morning experience! Was worried about the treatment of the camels but Asmat patiently explained the history, culture and care of the animals. Loved the whole experience and Asmat is amazing - this is our third tour experience with him!!! 10:10 recommend!

We had such a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Our awesome tour guide, Asmat, went above and beyond to make our morning perfect. He is very knowledgeable about the camels and had answers to all of our questions. He made sure to take us all around the track and even took up close pictures with the camels and owners. We felt like VIP! Asmat was an excellent tour guide and professional photographer :) thank you for an amazing experience here in Qatar! Must request Asmat for your tour :)

We had SO much fun during the camel race and tour!! Abdul Aziz was an amazing guide, he was so funny and kind - I will absolutely be booking again in the winter when the races resume, and look forward to booking other excursions in the meantime. 10/10, definitely book this tour!

My husband and I spent a very nice and interesting day accompanied by a very professional guide: Mr. Zeno. He explained to us the essence and details of this Qatari tradition and the value of wonderful camel babies. We highly recommend this tour and the company of Mr Zena, who is professional, friendly, empathetic and great driver.

We went for camel races at 6am. Although it was rough to wake up this early, it was all worth it because of the fabulous sunrise. Our guide Asmat took the time to explain the whole process of the races with lots of details and patience (as we had lots of questions). We enjoyed learning about the animals, their caregivers and their owners. He took us every step of the way with grace and an awesome sense of humour. We learned about the training, the preparation, the pre-race procedures as well as the after race ones. His driving is impeccable. You are in safe hands when he is behind the wheel. We were right in the middle of it all thanks to Asmat. He was not only extremely knowledgeable about the races but he was a skilled photographer as well. We have now a lot of stunning picture memories to share. I highly recommend Asmat for the private camel races tour.
