What To Expect
Learn how to be a real beekeeper in the tranquil countryside setting of São Bras de Alportel near Faro and Loulé and discover how these incredible insects work their magic to create one of Mother Nature's sweetest treats that is honey. Fully dressed as a real beekeeper, you will visit beehives in the fields, learn the process of taking care of the bees, taste different kinds of honey produced during the different seasons, and share with the beekeeper a delicious picnic surrounded by cork oaks. As a beekeeper the to-do list for the day is always changing so each workshop is going to be a little bit different – you might even build or paint a hive!

5.00Our host Thomas is the real deal. Our visit to the working bee hives in the Algarve showed us how Thomas cares for the bees how they sustainably harvest honey and pollen. We were up close and personal with the bees and even got to see a queen. The bed keeper suits provide a safe and up close experience so guests can see the inner workings of the hives. After plenty of time in the hives and wild flowers ( wild lavender in May) Thomas took us for a nice picnic where we enjoyed some of the Algarves finest produce with all different types of honey to accompany each product. Such a day and a nice meal with great company from Thomas. Highly highly recommended.

5.00What a great time we had. Thomas was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was exciting to be up and close with the bees in the provided protective clothing. After we sat in a super spot, and we’re treated to delicious traditional Portuguese food drizzled with honey, which was accompanied by honey mead! What more could you ask for? 10 out of 10 😁❤️
