Very beautiful bus ride to and from with a tour guide. Explore on your own in town. Could have used one more hour in Hallstatt but still a great day!

Travelling to Halstatt on the bus was an experience in itself. Beautiful countryside and our guide was very informative about the region and history. The town of Halstatt was gorgeous. So many picture opportunities. It was a clear day and the town and mountains stood out. Great tour.
A nice town for a Short Visit

Hallstat is quite a nice place to visit. It is about the same as some nice towns in other parts of Europe. If you have spare time in Salzburg, it is quite good to go. This tour operator uses quite a good coach. Leg room is good and the coach is quite new but not the very clean type. The airconditioing is sufficient which is good. The tour guide is friendly except that he cannot speak English clearly. Thus, often we do not understand what he meant. The driver can drive pretty well like most coach drivers except that he was super proud and rude. Maybe he thinks it is driving an army vehicle and have a commanding tone. He needs to know that he is fetching tourists. For English speaking tour, the tour company should get someone who speaks English well. The amount of time given for this tour will not give enough time for the Skywalk or Salt Mine. Just to get a view of some parts of the town.

It’s not written in the description but when you arrive in Hallstatt, it’s CASH ONLY. Even though our tour guide was kind, personable and shared a lot of random facts about celebs, the tour did not include much history about Hallstatt. And there was no tour in the actual town. It’s an hour bus ride to sit in a town for 2hr (town is small, 10-15min to walk it, with a handful of shops and restaurants). We were also told on the bus (not written in the description) that there would NOT be time to visit the salt mine, ride a boat or go up the funicular if the wait time was longer than 30min. Several people were surprised & frustrated. I looked back at the description- didn’t find it very accurate (hopefully they’ll update it). Town was packed w tourists. Apparently they use to get 135 big tour buses a day and it’s now 55, but it’s still packed w people. Wasn’t worth the trip for what I was looking for.
