Great Tour of China's North East Provinces and 3 days in Harbin with driver Xu

5.00My husband and I spent 4 wonderful and interesting weeks in April/May 2019 with driver Xu, traveling around China's Northeastern provinces (Dongbei) starting in Shenyang, continuing to Dalian, Dandong, Huanren, Ji'An, Changbai, Liaoyuan, Changchun, Qiqihar, Wudalianchi and Harbin (3days) where Xu is from. I speak some Mandarin, but even without, it would be no problem traveling with him as he has an excellent translation app and Baidu GPS. Xu has an acute sense of what you might want to do, finds interesting places to see and eat. He is just such a nice person, drives carefully and is always punctual and very flexible. During the time we spent with him it felt like being a family.

5.00I had booked a car and driver- and we were delighted to have David, a great guide, for the day as well! We had been to the the Ice Festival the night before on our own, and with David we got to go to the Tiger Park (which was excellent), take the cool "ropeway" tram across the frozen river to the Russian Town living museum, go to the Jewish synagogues & museum, to the St. Sophia Church (also now a museum), see the "mini" Ice festival in town when the light came on at 6pm, enjoy Harbin's famous ice cream, and have a delicious lunch, too! The vehicle was excellent, and very welcome on a very cold day! David also took and sent us photos, which was wonderful. We Highly recommend him, and we will definitely use him again if we are lucky enough to get back to Harbin!
