Had an amazing whale watching tour with this great research company. We saw several whales close up and the knowledge of the guide made it even more special. I would highly recommend this foundation and trip.

The staff were very professional whilst making the whole experience very enjoyable. Isabelle the marine biologist was so knowledgeable about whales and shared her passion about marine protection. We especially liked the fact that the company supports marine conservation and research. The skipper had a great sense of humour. A whale watching experience is a must do activity in Hervey Bay.

We had the most incredible time - small vessel so we felt closer to the whales, excellent commentary from a specialist, small group of people, and we got to listen to the whales with an underwater microphone which was fascinating. Would definitely take friends and family on this tour again.

Our whale watching cruise was nothing short of extraordinary. We were fortunate to have incredible weather and to witness a variety of whale behaviours from several groups just meters from the boat—an awe-inspiring sight that left us speechless. The water was crystal clear, the views of the bay and K’Gari were stunning, and the commentary was both insightful and unobtrusive. The atmosphere on board was one of quiet respect and shared wonder, with each passenger having ample opportunity to observe and photograph the whales without disruption. The crew’s relaxed expertise and thoughtful approach deepened the sense of connection to the experience. It was an unforgettable encounter—serene, intimate, and highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly magical moment in nature.

Love the fact that this company is involved in marine research; smaller boat meant we got close & personal with a couple of whales who "mugged" our boat for about an hour. Breathtaking! Our guide was so knowledgeable, our captain so competent and the whales so awe- inspiring, it was one of the top experiences of our lives. Well worth it. Thanks!

Well-organised, first class experience backed up by highly professional staff and excellent commentary. Reasonably priced at $119 lasting 3 hours. Approx. 20 people in attendance. My only recommendation for improvement is that the “snacks” on offer consisted of only one biscuit, which was a bit stingy.

Had a very relaxing time staying in Urangan, alongside the ocean we found a number of great cafes and restaurants, smattering of good shops and easy to get around. Did find Hervey Bay very spread out but good.

Fabulous experience. Very organised, professional and respectful staff. Prior to boarding they were chasing up all on the list to make sure they were at the right location to board. Lots of whale experiences - magic!!

From the moment we hopped on the boat, provided by Pacific Whale Foundation the crew made us feel so welcome and at ease. Even though it was a windy day, the ride out to the whales was smooth and enjoyable. Our first sighting was a mother and calf accompanied by a juvenile, and it was such a treat to watch them. Not long after, we moved to another area where we encountered three playful juvenile whales, each around 15 metres long—about the same length as the boat! They were incredible to watch, interacting with us for quite a while with tail slaps and gentle breaches right beside the boat. They were so curious and stayed with us for so long that our skipper eventually had to call another boat over to gently distract them so we could leave. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and I can’t recommend the Pacific Whale Foundation enough. Next time I have visitors in Hervey Bay, I’ll definitely be booking another trip with them!

Once we found the boat (not an easy feat) it was a great cruise. Super impressed with the commentary and information on board.
