What To Expect
Step onto your specially designed whale-watching catamaran and set sail from Hervey Bay. Listen to an expert's commentary as you head out to sea and scan the water for whales. See whales in their natural environment from a choice of two vantage points. Watch from inside the boat through the underwater viewing windows, or head to the boat's unique outdoor platform for unforgettable views. Your air-conditioned catamaran is equipped with hydrophones so you can hear the whales sing, and the multilingual staff can provide whale information in six languages. Smaller kids keep busy with toys and activities provided on board, and you can take home a free whale-watching DVD. Enjoy tea and coffee with biscuits and cake on the trip out, and an antipasto platter to share on the return trip home. You can also buy drinks from the licensed bar (own expense). Whale sightings are guaranteed, so if you don't spot any whales you can enjoy a return Hervery Bay whale-watching cruise on a different day for free!

5.00What a great experience we set off in torrential rain but that didn’t put anyone off. When we got out to sea there was hot drinks and snacks provided. ( I would suggest instead of little prices of pizza, biscuits, cakes for the breakfast maybe a bacon roll or full size pastries) for the money. However the whales wee incredible for our trip and spent an hour playing with boat right next to us was truly wonderful. Our crew were lovely and the lady that spoke about the whales was extremely knowledgeable. Thank you.

5.00We travelled with Tasman Ventures in August 2025 with a toddler and a newborn. It was raining outside, but the cruise did not disappoint! The crew were warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive — providing extra blankets, serving everyone with a hearty smile, and adding a personal touch to every interaction. We were lucky to enjoy plenty of whale encounters, including some breathtaking moments right next to the boat. Our guide was very experienced and made the trip even more engaging. Throughout the journey, free tea and delicious food platters were available in the cabin, along with plenty of extra options to choose from and purchase if you wished. A special thanks goes to Malina and Tasha, the wonderful ladies of the crew, who went above and beyond to help us set up a comfortable space for me to breastfeed our infant. We are a Sri Lankan family and met lovely French and German families with children, all of whom agreed that this is one of the most family- and kid-friendly cruises you could find. We would travel with Tasman Ventures again in a heartbeat!

5.00Was absolutely amazing. I am a very hard person to please and yet was blown away by this experience. Super friendly crew, good facilities. We purchased merchandise from a store on the dock before going not knowing they sell stuff onboard but would recommend purchasing stuff on the boat as it is fairly priced.
