Excellent private tour of Himeji Castle! I booked directly through Instagram, which was simple and easy, and the guides communication was great from the start. Riku was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the history of the castle much more interesting and easy to understand than following the rentable audio guide. It felt personal, relaxed, and much better than just walking through the castle alone. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Himeji and can’t say enough positives about the Guide, awesome job!

I had an amazing time visiting Himeji with Riku! He was incredibly kind, friendly, and passionate throughout the whole experience. His explanations about the history of Himeji Castle were really interesting and easy to follow, which made the visit even more memorable. He also gave me great recommendations for places to see and things to do around the city, which helped me enjoy Himeji even more. I highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Japan and wanting a fun, informative, and authentic experience. Thank you again, Riku! 🇯🇵✨

I'm not very fond of guided tours, most of my past experiences were quite negative and I didn't have high expectations this time either. Tour with Riku was a pleasant surprise; he was polite but casual, very knowledgeable, told us a lot about the castle and the surrounding area. He took care of formalities, walked us through the entire place and made sure to adjust the pace/take a break when needed. This review is unfortunately a bit late, I wish I could post it right after returning from the trip at the end of March, but if anyone is planning to visit Himeji during summer I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to hear some lesser known facts about the castle's history and take their time admiring the place without the stress of not keeping up with the bigger group. Riku is a really nice guide and I can guarantee that you will have a great time with him! :)

I had an excellent tour experience with Riku. He is a fun and friendly guide and a real himeji local. Himeji castle is a key historical site packed with information, and it was much easier to take in with the help of a knowledgeable guide like Riku over the 2+ hours. He shared many interesting facts and answered my many questions about the castle. I highly recommend booking a tour with Riku for your Himeji castle visit for his superb hospitality!

Riku-san did a good job with the tour of the Himeji castle and the beautiful surrounding gardens. He was communicated in advance (via WhatsApp) the specific meeting location a day ahead. The tour started with a visit of Princess Sen’s residence, which is beautifully preserved. The building was not busy so we were able to see things in detail, without rushing. Then, we went to the Himeji castle, where it was extremely busy. It takes some effort to go through the castle as it has a basement plus 6 levels. There is only one way up and one way down, using narrow stairways, with shoes off (need to be carried in a shoe bag that is provided onsite). Riku-san was thorough pointing out many of the architectural features for defense, storage areas for ammunitions and weapons, and even a hide-out room. The last part of the tour was to walk the beautiful gardens with full bloom cherry blossoms. The day was overcast and rainy, but it was still beautiful. Overall, I had a great time visiting Himeji with Riku-san!

My guided tour of Himeji Castle with Riku was a real highlight of my stay in Japan. Riku is only 21, but incredibly charming, courteous and intelligent – a young man who fills his role as a guide with impressive passion and expertise. He explained the history of the castle with a clarity and enthusiasm that is immediately infectious. I was particularly impressed by how confidently he responded to questions: precisely, understandably and always with a smile. Sometimes he deliberately put off answers to increase the tension – and in fact, the solution was often found around the corner. This way of imparting knowledge made the leadership not only informative, but also surprisingly alive. The experience was worth every cent and offers fantastic value for money. If you visit Himeji Castle and are really interested in castles, history and exciting backgrounds, you should definitely take the guided tour with Riku. Without it, you would miss many fascinating details that make the visit truly unforgettable. Riku, thank you for your time, patience and extraordinary way of bringing history to life. Your tour made my visit to Himeji Castle very special. I am very grateful to you for this experience.

Our guide, Riku, was a lovely young man. He sent detailed instructions of our meeting point well in advance. He certainly knew the history of the Castle and we throughly enjoyed our tour with him. Plus, Riku allowed time for us ‘older’ customers to rest at intervals. Thank you Riku!

I questioned whether or not to pay for a tour, but I’m glad I did now! Riku was very knowledgeable about the castle’s history and surrounding area. He was easy to talk to and even gave some great recommendations on local foods to try. Visiting Himeji Castle and being guided by Riku is certainly worth it.
