Such an incredible experience! Our guide, Pancho, is incredible and has such a unique and knowledgeable perspective on both Hiroshima and Miyajima island. Timing was perfect with great food recommendations, and such a deep knowledge and connection to the intense history of both places. I’ve done this tour multiple times with him and it never disappoints!

★★★★★ Our day trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima and Miyajima Island was one of the absolute highlights of our trip, thanks to our wonderful guide, Pancho. I was initially concerned that trying to see both destinations in a single day from Kyoto would feel rushed or overwhelming, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Pancho brought Hiroshima’s history to life with incredible knowledge, perspective, and sensitivity. The history is undeniably powerful and emotional, and his thoughtful insights helped us gain a much deeper understanding and appreciation of what we were seeing. He struck the perfect balance between sharing important historical context and making the experience engaging and personal. And don’t miss Miyajima! The island’s beauty, charm, and peaceful atmosphere were the perfect way to end the day. Wandering through its quaint streets and taking in the stunning scenery provided a wonderful contrast to the morning’s historical experiences. Pancho planned and paced the entire day flawlessly, making it feel comfortable, meaningful, and memorable from start to finish. We would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Japan and looking for an exceptional guide. This was truly a five-star experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pancho was the most friendly guide and explained to us non stop every little detail during the visit. He also shared with us his family history, making the war events even more real. Enjoyed the visit and hike of Miyajima Island such a jewel of place, so peaceful! Let’s preserve Peace.

We had an excellent day today with Poncho. As it was raining, he drove us rather than a walking tour for which we were grateful. We heartily recommend his services.

Pancho was an amazing guide- super communicative before our trip and even helped me figure out local ferry schedule for our return the next day since we stayed overnight at Miyajima. Hw met us at the Shinkansen (at our car) and provided amazing service from beginning to end! He is a local expert and his grandfather is a survivor of the atomic bomb. He was also able to speak from personal perspective about how local residents feel about Americans (no ill will) and how kids in Hiroshima have been taught since a young age to promote peace, and both perspectives on Japan’s role as well as US’ role and how both countries played a part. We weren’t sure how Americans would be received specifically in this part of Japan. He also took us to have local okonomiyaki with oysters, and to 7-11 at my husband’s request for the smooth vending machine. On Miyajima island, he arranged for our hotel shuttle to meet us at the port and take our luggage so we can tour with him without extra stuff. He took us to the famous floating Torii gate and then to Daoshoin temple- which we had never even heard of- but ended up being our favorite because of how beautiful and mystical it was! Highly recommend Pancho!

Pancho was an excellent guide! He communicated with us 2 days before to be sure the time and location where we were going to picked up. We were on a cruise ship that stopped for one day in Hiroshima He organized the tour in a great way . First we went early to Miyajima Island. He is very knowledgeable of the area and knew there could be a lot of people and traffic so we parked in a Mall near the Ferry Port and from there took a short train ride to avoid traffic time. On the Island we saw the famous Great Torii Gate and then visited the Itsukushima Shrine. He really gave great explanations with details about everything. Then we visited the Miyajima Misen Daisho-in Temple. After we finished in the Island and with a very smooth ride back to Hiroshima City Center we had a delicious lunch in a local place to eat a great Hiroshima okonomiyaki . People were so friendly and you could watch how they prepared it for us. After lunch we headed to a very sad place, ground zero in Hiroshima. Sad to see but a good place to remind us why wars are bad and how people suffer from the devastation. The Peace Memorial was very solemn and we showed our respect and prayed We were back to the Ship on time after having a great day. Thanks Pancho . you really are a great man and excellent guide! Thanks for all your knowledge and we were lucky you were born and raised in Hiroshima and for the great family values you shred with us! Scott and Alejandro

We had Pancho as a full-day guide in Hiroshima and Miyajima. Pancho contacted us the day before via WhatsApp and picked us up directly from our Shikansen wagon. His English is very good & understandable. He showed us and explained all the relevant sights in Hiroshima & on Miyajiima & always recognized exactly whether we wanted more or less explanation. For lunch he gave us a very good recommendation of a restaurant according to our wishes. In the evening he accompanied us to the Shikansen again. We had a great day & Pancho made a significant contribution to this - thank you!

Hi Pancho, This is the review I wrote, but I cannot post it on Viator because I did not book it on that website. I tried to post it on toursbylocals (where I booked your tour) but did not see how to do it. If you have any advice about how to get it on Viator please let me know. Thank you for a memorable day. Review: We had the absolute pleasure of spending a day in Hiroshima and Miyajima with our incredible guide, Pancho, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Traveling as a family of four with two teens, we were grateful for Pancho’s warm welcome and seamless organization from the moment he met us right at the door of our Shinkansen train from Kyoto. Pancho expertly guided us across trains, trams, and ferries, making what could have been a complicated day of travel feel effortless. On Miyajima Island, he gave us a rich, immersive tour of the iconic floating torii gate, the Itsukushima Shrine, and the beautiful Daisho-in Temple. Pancho pointed out many hidden details and shared thoughtful explanations that brought the sites to life in a way we never could have experienced on our own. Back in Hiroshima, we were deeply moved by our visit to the Peace Park, Ground Zero, and the A-Bomb Dome. Pancho’s knowledge, empathy, and personal connection—sharing the story of his own grandparents’ survival—added a powerful, human dimension to the experience that we will never forget. Pancho was kind, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and sensitive to the needs and pace of our family throughout the day. We cannot recommend him highly enough to anyone visiting Hiroshima and Miyajima. This was more than a tour—it was a meaningful and unforgettable journey.
