Are you yearning for an authentic historic tour of Barbados? Look no further!!
Let me show you the Historic Garrison as I share my most treasured and intimate memories of my visits to this area with my father. He often took me back to 18th century Barbados, to a time when the life and times of British military occupation in Barbados was at its height. The shores and forts of Barbados also have interesting stories that I will I share. I'd love to take you for a journey through history as we travel the quaint towns and absorb in the beauty of ancient buildings alongside modern architecture.
This guided tour with audio headset is engaging as we tell you about the barracks, the hospital, the forts, the cannon collection, the prison and even the court martial site before viewing the house where George Washington stayed! A little snack helps pass the time as you are transported to the Barbadian military Garrison of 1705.

Our tour guide(Kristen) was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain all the interesting facts about the Garrison and the George Washington House. He was obviously very passionate about the history of Barbados, which gave the tour an additional element. He also made the tour fun. Would highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was very informative regarding the garrison part of the tour which made it more interesting for my husband, an ex military man. Unfortunately I was not able to participate in this part of the tour as I am disabled. Washington’s house was the highlight for me & my husband and having the story devices made it so that we could go at my pace rather than being rushed from point to point. We had a fabulous lunch in the cafe afterwards, so a lovely few hours all in all.

This was a wonderful educational tour with Christen, our tour guide, who was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Christen walked us around the Garrison & inside the race course explaining everything we saw what it's use was in the past & how the buildings had changed or were going through their transition period. We loved the house & and grounds, although it was quite hard to see some of the exhibits. The tunnels were very spooky. We felt privileged as we had Christen to ourselves, and although sometimes that can feel awkward on this occasion, it felt we were taking an interesting walk with a young, knowledgeable friend. Definitely recommend this if you're interested in the history of the island.

We booked tour through Princess Cruise Line, lead by James who was incredibly knowledgeable about military base, influence Barbados experience had on young George, slave-based booming sugar economy, smallpox/malaria issues affecting soldiers, huge windmill technology, how constrcton with coral keeps homes cooler, etc, and we enjoyed a cup of rum punch! Enjoyed damp walk through drainage tunnel - did video to show friends. Hope to do program on this for my local DAR chapter, One of the BEST tours I've ever taken. Purchased George's Barbados Diary there for $37! Fascinating!
