We stayed on the third floor of a one bedroom AB&B on Plaza de la Independencia in the Casco Viejo, the old part of town. Location is important. Many HUGE hotels in the "Business" side of town. We could walk to almost everything that we were interested in. $10 cab ride to the Canal Locks. Ate in twice each day and found small LOVELY places for lunch or dinner out. Shops, small grocery store, Indigenous women dancing, playing flutes, involving young people in the plaza. Cathedral bells tolling during the day. VERY kind cops who suggested directions and recommended The Coca Cola Café (Pancakes and coffee under $5.00. We've visited over 50 countries. Panama is one of the BEST.

Due to Covid, the train was not running. However, we had the opportunity to visit San Lorenzo instead. It was BEAUTIFUL! We learned so much and had a wonderful time. We ended up having a private tour with Hector, who was so knowledgable about the history of all of the places we visited. The Aguas Claros Locks was fascinating, Portabelo and San Lorenzo were beautiful. And lunch was delicious! It was a great day and we would certainly book another tour when we return.

Awesome Tour!! Unfortunately, the train wasn't running, so if that is important to you, contact them to make sure. We saw the new locks and two ruins. It was amazing and the information Hector had was incredible. We learned so much. He was also great with our 9 year old son. Highly recommended.

Great tour. A large amount of Historical information shared by our tour guide. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Did not rush. Explained things thoroughly. Tour was lengthy so come prepared for a long day but was well worth the effort. Would recommend to people who are prepared for a 10 to 11 hour day.

We started our 1 day excursion in Panama City where we were picked up directly by our guide Hector by car. I can highly recommend you Hector, just call by phone and ask for him. A very nice guy with excellent knowledge of the history of Panama in very good English. After a good hour’s drive we reached Portobelo, where we could see the small village with the Black Christ Church and the impressive ruins with the cannons. Also the drive to the Panama Canal (Agua Clara) was very informative and beautiful views accompanied due drive. The actual canal with the locks for the huge cargo and passenger ships was spectacular. Lunch is not included. There was a delicious buffet right in the complex. Also the little jungle where we could observe monkeys was very nice. Then we went to the Panama Canal Train, the highlight of the day. You first go with the guide to the port of Colon where you climb into the panorama and relax for 1 hour and enjoy the view on the Panorama train. On the train ride back you see a lot of nature, if you are lucky many animals and a beautiful sunset. Since the train has a roof built with glass you have a beautiful panoramic view. Back in Panama City our Hector took us back to the hotel. Highly recommended if you don't have much time and want to make a day trip in peace without much tourists. The price is very fair to the 1 day trip. I also have a few more photos. Big thanks to Hector. It was very nice.

Our third group vacations, this was the coolest trip ever. The most adventurous trip with great folks and our local tour guide was surely on top of his game. We had private transportations and the same tour guide for our group of 15 people for all 3 trips we booked with them.

This is by far the most satisfying experience we have ever had; we booked this tour with a lot of expectations and they were all met, this was, most definitely the highlight of our entire vacations. We surely will recommend LIVE FOLKS to others, family, friends should they visit Panama.
