The Independence Palace
Reunification Palace was the base of Vietnamese General Ngo Dinh Diem until his death in 1963. It made its name in global history in 1975. A tank belonging to the North Vietnamese Army crashed through its main gate, ending the Vietnam War. Today, it's a must-visit for tourists in Ho Chi Minh City. The palace is like a time capsule frozen in 1975. You can see two of the original tanks used in the capture of the palace parked in the grounds. Reunification Palace was the home and workplace of the French Governor of Cochin-China. It has lush gardens, secret rooms, antique furniture, and a command bunker. It's still in use to host important occasions in Ho Chi Minh, including APEC summits.
War Remnants Museum
The War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City first opened to the public in 1975. Once known as the ‘Museum of American War Crimes’, it's a shocking reminder of the long and brutal Vietnam War. Graphic photographs and American military equipment are on display. There's a helicopter with rocket launchers, a tank, a fighter plane, a single-seater attack aircraft. You can also see a conventional bomb that weighs at 6,800kg. American troops had used these weapons against the Vietnamese between 1945 and 1975.

Tony was amazing. We saw the Palace and the war remnants museum. He was incredibly informative - we could not have had as fulfilling of an experience without it

I highly recommend this tour if you would like to learn Vietnamese culture and history. Not knowing anything about this part of the world….I now understand better thanks to this tour. And a big thanks to our tour guide Phat for teaching me about Vietnam!

This tour is a wonderful way to learn more about Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam, while also gaining insight into everyday life and local culture. We visited the Independence Palace (formerly the Presidential Palace) and the War Museum, both essential sites for understanding Vietnam’s history and the Vietnam War. The itinerary also included a visit to a market in Chinatown and a stop at a lacquerware store. We usually don’t enjoy shopping stops, but this one was absolutely worth it—the craftsmanship is beautiful and the merchandise is high quality. Our guide, Laren, was outstanding. He shared a lot of additional information about life in Vietnam and truly went above and beyond to make the tour enjoyable and informative. Lunch was very good as well. Overall, a well-organized and highly recommended tour!

This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. Far below expectations. The Wsr Remnants museum was an insult. I am avietnam vet. If you are one as well, do yourself a favor and skip this.
