  Firstly, there is plenty of parking at the facility. We were well looked after, and the tour guide was very informative, and the scenery and layout of the site was very pleasing to the eye. The cafe prices were very reasonable for a remote location.

  Able to park without any difficulty. Picnic benches available near the carpark for DIY picnic - although there is a cafe if you need to purchase food and drink. Toilets on site. Obtained our entry ticket after showing our online booking confirmation and we were able to join a tour earlier than the one we had booked because a few no-shows freed up spaces. A coach takes you to the film set, with an introductory video on board. It's a pretty slick conveyor belt tour operation, as the coaches depart from the ticket centre every 10 minutes. You have a guide who leads you through the set and ensures that you don't bunch up with the tour group ahead of yours. The guide provides some interesting insights into how the location was chosen, where specific scenes in the films were shot, how much work went into creating the set, etc. - the guide really adds value. The tour didn't feel at all rushed or crowded, despite the numbers on the site. Arguably the highlight is being able to go inside one of two hobbit holes. At the end of the tour you get a free beer/cider/soft drink in the Green Dragon inn. And you can visit the gift shop! It's a must for Hobbit and LOTR fans, but is a very well run tourist attraction regardless.

  Great tour, very friendly and fun tour guide James (aka 007). You're on the bus a very short time, great walk with a couple of small hills. A water bottle wouldn't hurt.
