What To Expect
Hoi An
Here’s the itinerary for our Evening Motorbike or Vespa Food Tour. Starting from your hotel, John Lee takes you through scenic farming fields and small alleyways to local eateries and restaurants. You will sit among the locals and try a selection of the best dishes Hoi An has to offer. We will visit local family producers of items like Cao Lau noodles . You will learn about the local lifestyle. And then we will eat a local food called ”BÁNH BÈO”, followed by another local favorite “White Rose” dumplings and Fried Wontons, one of Hoi An’s street food specialties and you will learn how to make them.

Back to the scooter, we will go to a local area to eat “Sizzling rice pancakes”.Tuck into a Vietnamese Barbecue and try your hand at the ‘Wrap And Roll’ style of eating and then we will try “Quang Noodles” which are a really popular dish in Hoi An! Continuing, we will experience a dish that cannot be missed when coming to Hoi An: Banh Mi. The drivers takes you along the river banks, winding back alleys and go to the Hoi An old town in order to we take a walk and take pictures with colorful lanterns. After that we will have banana pancake and rolled ice cream for dessert. And then we will back the hotel.

5.00We first booked a private nighttime food tour to get a real taste of Hoi An’s authentic street food scene, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of our trip. From the start, John was incredibly easy to communicate with, always available on WhatsApp, quick to answer any questions, and just genuinely pleasant to deal with. The tour itself was beyond our expectations. John took us to local spots that don’t even show up on Google Maps; true hidden gems! Every dish was spot on, from Bánh bèo Bà Bảy to white rose dumplings, each bite telling its own story. (Check out the food pictures, they speak for themselves!) John also went above and beyond by organising a private day trip to Marble Mountain, where he generously added stops at the vegetable village, a silk factory, and even arranged a lovely local lunch. His generosity, flexibility, and deep local knowledge made our day memorable. He’s fun, easygoing, professional, and knows exactly how to tailor the experience to what you’re looking for. 5.00It is hard to describe how amazing this street food tour was. John and Mr Nine took amazing care of us while we were on the back of the Vespa's. Not once did I feel scared or uneasy. The food places we visited, and the food they served us was top notch and we did not go hungry. John's knowledge and history of the places set the bar to another level. When we visit Hoi An again, we will definitely be doing this tour again.

5.00What an amazing experience!!! Food tour by vesper and taken care of by John and Nine. These gents looked after us and made sure we were safe and well fed. Such an amazing and unique experience that I would highly recommend. The vespers were amazing and the food sensational. Two very knowledgeable guides who made sure we were looked after every step of the way. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an authentic experience of seeing the more authentic parts of Hoi An.

5.00We decided to do a food and walking tour in hoi a with John. From start to finish he was brilliant. He picked us up at our hotel, and brought us to 6 different places where we enjoyed 9 different local dishes. We would never have found the small local food spots he took us to without him. As we walked he gave us the history of the town, and explained every dish in so much detail. He was so warm and welcoming to us and really had a ball with him. Could not recommend this tour more, to try some dishes you would never know to try and go to some great local spots.

5.00Once again John proved to be one of the best guides we have used during our time here in Hoi An. Our Family had the most enjoyable food tour put together by him. Starting with our chance to make our very own White Rose dumplings, followed by 3 other locals only places, that we never would have found. Even though every place we visited was very busy, John's expert planning got us straight in and fed so easily, his inside knowledge proving most helpful. After the dinner, our family enjoyed a magical journey on the river boat, releasing our lanterns for good luck before ending the night with ice cream rolls! This is the 4th tour that we have booked with John Lee Tours and we couldn't be happier with the level of service he provides, even making sure the kids got to enjoy a ride in the fancy buggies and taking the time to see the lion dance. John is truly a wonderful guide who communicates well in advance, has fantastic English and someone who is great to share your time with.
