We had a great time! I had a list of foods to try and this ticked off nearly all. John brought a real energy to the experience which made the afternoon fun. We really enjoyed meeting the locals who grew and prepared food and having someone local know where to go and what to eat was amazing. Highly recommend.

John is awesome!!! His tour is excellent and takes you to great food spots that really feel true to local culture. He’s also a lot of fun to hang out with, cracking jokes, taking selfies, and making us feel totally at home. Highly recommend to anyone coming to Hoi A who would like a fun experience to explore the culture.

We do food tours in almost all cities we visit and that is about 20 in over 2 years. John’s was fantastic. He is a native of Hoi An and thus has lots of insider knowledge. Before we visited restaurants he took us to visit the 68 y/o man who makes almost all of the unique noodles for Cao Lau. Next we saw where most of the local bean sprouts are grown in sand. The food stops were unique and excellent. Our group couldn’t stop raving about his tour.

This was so much more than just another food tour in another city. John’s joyful and happy demeanour immediately shone through and we felt comfortable with him and his brother as we climbed aboard the motorbikes. Travelling through paddy fields full of the crops for later this year it was hard to believe we were only just outside Hoi An and a very special stop was to come. Before we had eaten anything we stopped at a house where the couple living there were continuing a multi-generation “cottage” industry making Cao Lau noodles for Hoi An’s restaurants (150kg a day!!). The process using water from special wells and ash from charcoal was amazing to watch. Then came the food (absolutely amazing) and chat with John - it felt to us like we were meeting an old friend - born and raised in Hoi An he knows his local stuff and this was what made it special. if you ever find yourself in Hoi An wondering what to do for 3 hours (that will fly by) then look John up - more personal and attentive than the corporate suppliers of such tours. Thanks John for etching yourself on our memories - we had so much fun John and Anne Marie

We had such a great time exploring the food and sights in Hoi An with Trang. She was so lovely and genuine, and we really enjoyed chatting to her about the food and life in general. The places we ate were all amazing, and it was a good amount of food throughout the evening. Trang was also really flexible with the itinerary, and planned the stops to maximise our time in Hoi An.

We had a great time with Lam as our tour guide. Unlike other food tours we’ve done, we started off visiting a few family operations that were producing sprouts and noodles to learn more of the economics side of the area. We then went to 5 or 6 places for some local flavors, which were great. I just wish I skipped lunch so I could have eaten more!
