With Visit Horn Africa, you can enjoy an all-inclusive experience, excluding lunches, dinners, visa costs, and flights, on tours to Somalia (Mogadishu), Somaliland, and Djibouti. We offer these tours at the lowest prices available in the market for all three countries in the Horn of Africa, and you won't find them anywhere else, as we provide the most cost-effective combined tour packages in the region.
This combined Horn of Africa tour takes you to some of the most fascinating destinations in the Horn: Somaliland, a self-declared country that remains unrecognized, and Djibouti, one of the smallest nations on the African continent. As for Somalia (Mogadishu), it has been largely off-limits to travelers for the past 20 years, but we offer a unique opportunity to explore this once-inaccessible destination.
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
This tour starts from Mogadishu airport, and after completing the Mogadishu tour, we will head to Somaliland (Hargeisa) via a domestic flight, which operates daily. The fare for this flight is $180, but this is not included in the package.

Laas Geel
Visit the caves of Laas Geel, where rock art dating back more than 5,000 years has been found – one of the most well-preserved examples of rock art in Africa, and a highlight of the journey. A French team led by Xavier Gutherz discovered the site in 2002 during their study of the origins of pastoralism in the Horn of Africa. Along with the paintings, lithic tools were found scattered throughout the site, and there are many tombs marked with stelae and mounds in the nearby area. There are approximately 20 rock shelters with paintings, the largest of which measures approximately 10 meters in length. Most of them appear to be humpless cows with curved or lyre-like white horns (sometimes with reddish tips) and marked udders. We will return to Hargeisa city and visit the nearby Camel farm after visiting the site. Dinner and overnight at Damal Hotel Hargeisa or a similar hotel. (BLD)

Our time and tour in Somaliland felt effortless, although we know our guide Guled put in a lot of care for our visit! He had such a peaceful attitude, took us all around to places we never could have navigated on our own, we took just the amount of time needed in every area that we visited, he always gave us the right amount of information, and somehow we engineered our way into the VIP area at a football match in Berbera! What an exciting time - the trip could not have been better, and I don't assume anyone out there could have given us a better experience. Highly recommend, highly trust.

Guuleed is an amazing guide and a wonderful person. He showed us Hargeisa with so much passion, knowledge, and care. Thanks to him, we were able to really feel the city, understand its history, culture, and everyday life. Everything was very well organized, relaxed, and interesting. Guuleed was always attentive, friendly, and happy to answer all our questions. We felt very comfortable and safe the whole time. We truly enjoyed every moment of the tour, and Hargeisa left a great impression on us - largely thanks to Guuleed. We highly recommend him to anyone visiting Somaliland An unforgettable experience!

I enjoyed visiting the Horn of Africa. It’s not an easy place to visit, keeping in mind all visa requirements, lack of flights between countries, security concerns etc. The quality of tours varied. My 24 stay in Somalia was not well organized. I did not see a few places I was interested in, yet I was stuck in the hotel second day until 11 am with nothing to do. Young lady guide was very nice and friendly, spoke very good English. The hotel was mediocre. Food was adequate but expensive. My 3 day trip in Djibouti was superb. The hotel, food, transportation, guides were all exceptionally good. The owner of the company was extremely helpful, he made sure all my expectations were met and I was satisfied entire time. He went out of his way to make my stay enjoyable. Djibouti is a gem, with a huge tourist potential. I highly recommend it. I had a short stay in Somaliland. The hotel was adequate. Guide was knowledgeable, spoke a superb English, was accommodating and friendly, but the time was poorly managed, so I ended up not seeing 3 or 4 sights I was interested in. I loved visiting Laas Geel. That was the highlight of my trip in Somaliland. Hotel was adequate. Food at the hotel restaurant was excellent. Eritrea was amazing. Loved both Asmara and Massawa. Both guide and driver were very good. First night hotel in Asmara was mediocre. The hotel in Massawa was adequate. The last night hotel in Asmara was great! I wish I had stayed there the first night also. The last night hotel had good internet connection which is very important for me - I had over 10 work related emails I could not access first two days in Eritrea. So while overall I enjoyed my Horn of Africa trip, I think there is some space for improvement. I also think it was unreasonably expensive, one of more expensive trips I took and I’ve been traveling around the world quite a lot (164 countries).

Guled with Visit Horn of Africa made my trip to this unrecognized nation in the Horn of Africa transformative. From the warmth of the people to the stunning landscapes and rich history, Somaliland offers an experience that’s rare and unfiltered.

We really enjoyed our tour with Guled. The drive from the border was long but enjoyable and on arrival in Hargeisa we met Guled who proudly showed us around his country. The highlights for us were the walks around the markets; the cave paintings; the fried tuna lunch and the friendliness of the people.

I spent 11 days exploring Mogadishu and Somaliland with Visit Horn of Africa, and this trip exceeded my expectations in every way. Our guide Guleid was outstanding—professional, knowledgeable, and consistently went above and beyond to ensure we had an incredible experience. Highlights: Las Geel rock art was absolutely worth the anticipation—easily one of the trip's standout moments. The Daalo Mountains offered stunning scenery, and watching the sunset at Berbera beach was unforgettable. Logistics: Accommodations were solid throughout—honestly better than I expected based on my previous travels across Africa. Transportation was comfortable with a reliable driver. The food quality and variety were excellent, and prices were very reasonable. Perhaps most surprising: the cell service and WiFi were incredibly fast, and the coffee was exceptional (not something I expected to find in this region). Safety & Security: In Mogadishu, Visit Horn of Africa arranged everything seamlessly, including two security personnel who accompanied us whenever we left the hotel. The security arrangements were professional and unobtrusive. Value: Yes, Mogadishu is more expensive due to necessary security and logistics, making this pricier than many African destinations. However, Somaliland is considerably more affordable, and the overall value was good. You're paying for expertise, safety, and access to places few travelers reach. The People: Everyone we encountered was incredibly welcoming. The warmth and hospitality of the Somali people made this trip truly special. My only regret? Not staying longer. If you're considering this region, Visit Horn of Africa and Guleid are excellent choices.

Beautiful trip. 🤩 We visited amazing places. Everything was great and professional. Guled was very good guide. He helped us with everything and tried to fulfil all our requests. He made the atmosphere of the tour very pleasant, patiently answered hundreds of our questions. Also Moussa, our guide in Djibouti, was very good. Sometimes he had to exercise great patience 😂 Both had great knowledge of history and nature. They tried to show us everything as best as possible. Hotels in Djibouti City and Hargeisa were quite good. Others weren't comfortable, even primitive ( Lake Abie and Berbera ). But retreated them as a part of the adventure. This is Africa! I can recommend this trip.
