Outstanding in every way. Chad is knowledgeable, funny, and went out of his way to help my disabled wife on and off the carriage.

Highly recommend! Chad is a great story teller and he made the ride fun and interesting. It was worth the money. I heard from the locals that he is good to his horses and respectful to the dog walkers on the carriage trails. I would do this again.

We had 2 great carriage tours with friends over the past couple of weeks. Chad is wonderful, so friendly, & full of knowledge about the history of Bass Lake & The Moses Cone Manor. He is a good ole country boy with a huge passion for his horses & for his tours. He takes great pride in what he does and made each one of us feel welcome. The carriage ride itself is very peaceful & full of small town charm! Chad told great stories, most were true! Haha! He is a great tour guide, but more importantly just a good good dude! We were blessed with an added bonus “tour guide” in little Charlie! She was amazing as well!!

My reservation date/time was offered online, but declined after I reserved it. There was no explanation given or alternate date/time suggested. I'm sure it would have been a lovely experience had my partner and I been given another option to experience it.

Chad, the owner/driver of Carriage Run, has found his perfect niche in the world. Driving his two beautiful Belgium draft horses, like a hot knife through butter; smooth and effortlessly, he shares stories and first hand recollections of Cone Manor life. Chad is extremely knowledgeable about the park’s flora and fauna, as well as the history of the property, its owners, and the families who lived and worked the land. Chad explained about the construction of buildings, the creation of the two lakes, building forever rock walls, tending the orchards, and the sad but romantic story of the divided heart. 💔 As we traversed the exquisite carriage paths of years gone by, we were immersed in the history and pageantry of the past through his down-home story telling style and passion. When visiting Watauga County / Grandfather Mountain country, a carriage ride with Chad is an outing you don’t want to miss. Thank you, Chad, Duke, and Don.
