Visit to the Seltún Geothermal Area
Don't miss the unique opportunity to go snorkeling among geothermal hot springs! This is generally impossible due to the high temperatures present in such locations around the world. But the Kleifarvatn lake offers the chance to swim safely among the geothermal bubbles. We will meet at the Seltún Geothermal Area where we will walk around boiling mud pots. The guide will brief you on your upcoming snorkeling tour and the volcanic and geothermal area you are located in. You will then drive yourself after the Dive car the short drive to Lake Kleifarvatn. After gearing up and getting a detailed briefing about the activity, we will start our adventure. Although the hot springs are located about 50 meters from the shore, you will see the geothermal sediments as soon as you enter the water. It is a unique underwater landscape. As we approach the springs, you will start feeling the environment around you changing - this experience has often been described as swimming in a glass of champagne. After the tour, we will warm up with hot chocolate and cookies. This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants to run.

What an incredible experience. My guide was Lorenzo who made sure I got into my dry suit and thermal suit. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, humourous and safety conscious. The water was crystal clear, stunningly beautiful and breathtaking. Only 6 in a group. What a privilege to be able to experience swimming between the tectonic plates. Loved it. Thanks Lorenzo

Loved the snorkel at Silfra! Such a beautiful, geological marvel. Eeva was an awesome guide. I always get a little worried when doing excursions by myself, but Eeva was very welcoming and gave great tips and facts about the landscape. I didn’t even think I’d want to buy pictures, but I added them on at the end of the tour! Ending at Fontana’s Hot Spring was a real treat, and I recommend adding the geothermal bread tour to your soak.

Our snorkeling guide was David, and he did a great job! This was the most fantastic experience we had in Iceland, even though our holiday was packed with wonderful experiences. But Silfra snorkeling beat it all! It was so beautiful, something you just cant imagine. David was fun and very good at explaining everything. He really made everyone feel comfortable with the equipment, and everything went smoothly. After the snorkeling in Silfra, we went to Laugarvatn Fontana for the hot spa - very nice place! We spent 3 hours there - nice warm pools, and what a view! We can really recommend this trip.

We have been travelling to Iceland for several years and were looking for a special experience to get a little closer to the land of fire and ice. The choice fell on the snorkeling tour in lake Kleifarvatn - and we were not disappointed! There is something very special about snorkeling in a lake that lies in a volcanically active zone. Our guide Ramiro was just great - he explained everything to us and gave us a lot of knowledge about the area and the lake. The underwater world of lake Kleifarvatn is simply amazing - hot springs are bubbling at the bottom, and the countless air bubbles give you the feeling of swimming through a curtain of glittering pearls - a really special experience :) Thanks again to Ramiro - he took a lot of time for our questions and took good care of us. We would book the tour again at any time!

If you do one thing while visiting Iceland, make it this tour. Even better, try and get Kira as your guide. Kira is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and an expert. My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we can’t stop smiling after this experience! The views are breathtaking. The dry suits keep you comfortable and shielded against the very cold water! You’re far more likely to come out laughing than shivering.

What an experience! Really quite magical being in such clear water & just gliding through, not much 'swimming' was required at all, due to the flow of the water. Our guide Eeva was amazing! So lovely & helpful, really prepared us for the water & what to expect, plus helped with the suits, hoods, etc - which was needed! My partner found the snorkeling quite overwhelming as he had never done it before, but Eeva was really understanding & supportive. We were both so glad we did it!! Lovely hot chocolate & biscuits to finish with, before we headed the 30 min drive away to the spa. This spa was small, but had more locals than tourists, which was nice & provided a good opportunity to really warm up & reset after the snorkeling. > Wear thermals or a layer to have underneath your suit, your clothes will stay dry, but you might experience some leaks around your neck. You're putting your suits on all together, so have your underneath layer on already. > Have some warm layers to wear later, hats & gloves are a good option! > Arrive early or stick around after the snorkeling to explore more of the park.
