What To Expect
Hue Imperial City (The Citadel)
OPTIONAL STOP: Built from 1804 by King Gia Long and finished in 1833 by King Minh Mang. This area was used as living and working quarter for Kings and Royal Family Members of the Nguyen Dynasty until 1945, and was recognized by UNESCO as WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE. This is a must see place, that not to be missed if you travel to Hue and love to learn about country history and Vietnamese royal culture.
Thien Mu Pagoda
OPTIONAL STOP: Located on the north shore of the Perfume River about 3km from the Imperial Citadel. You can get there by dragon boat along the Perfume River, or for those feeling more energetic, a pleasant bicycle ride. The Thien Mu Pagoda is regarded as the unofficial symbol of the former imperial capital. Today it is the home of the Austin Motor Vehicle which drove Thich Quang Duc to his self-immolation in Saigon in 1963 in protest against the Diem regime. It is still home to many monks and a holy site visited by many everyday.

5.00Our guide Hung was brilliant - very friendly, helpful and most of all extremely knowledgable about the Hue Citadel, Thien Mu pagoda and the wider history of Vietnam. He explained everything very clearly in perfect English and was able to answer all our questions. My husband was ill during the tour and we really appreciated how patient and helpful Hung was, going more slowly and then helping us to arrange a taxi home for my husband. I would definitely recommend this tour and most of all would recommend Hung as a guide!

5.00We did both the Imperial City half day tour and the Three Tombs tour with a driver and guide. We were lucky to have Tai as our guide for both tours. Both days were great! Amazing to see all these sights with such a friendly and knowledgeable guide! So much to see, learn and admire. The tombs are all very unique - set up in similar ways but different with each King’s unique style, taste and influence. Request Tai as your guide, if you can. He is great!

We were picked up at our hotel right on time, and it was only me & 2 friends on the tour - it felt very private. Tai's English was great & understandable. He's an awesome tour guide and can tell he loves his job. Imperial City history is fascinating. We also visited the Pagoda for about 20 minutes, then took a boat ride on the Perfume River back to the van. I highly recommend this tour...and Tai.

It was a very comfortable trip and we were able to learn many things and ask questions anytime.
