For all those interested in trying the Icelandic horse, a trek on the hardy, sure-footed Icelandic horse is an experience to remember. Whether you are a beginner or expert, old or young, these friendly horses with their alert and willing nature are indeed a pleasure to ride in their natural surroundings.

What To Expect
You will be picked up at your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik and drive only 15 minutes away to your horse riding destination. You will then get all basic gear, such as helmets, boots and rain clothes (snowsuits in wintertime). Information will be gathered about how much you have been riding and so the proper horse will be matched to your experience. After the ride we will take you back to your hotel or guesthouse.

5.00We really loved our ride with Laxnes Horse Farm. I rode Joker and he was a dream and my 8-year-old rode a little white horse that was incredibly gentle. We just really enjoyed the experience as a whole.

5.00What a magical experience! I was a total beginner but the instructor was super helpful and I got given a really experienced horse. Going through the landscape was so dreamy, crisp and breathtaking. My only tip is to wrap up warm for the winter! Loved my trip and can’t wait to do it again! Worth every penny!

5.00It was super fun. Super cute fully automatic pony 🐎! Beginner-friendly 👑 Enjoy a lot of scenery along the way. Often appropriate. After that there is delicious hot chocolate and bread. The staff are very friendly.

5.00Had a magical afternoon riding through the snow at Laxnes Horse Farm. Collected from our hotel, once at the family-run farm we were given all in one zip up waterproofs - imagine what you’d wear on a North Sea oil rig - and then we met our horses (shout out to Frosty) and guides. Horses were clearly well looked after, calm and used to inexperienced riders. Riding through the snow was, for me, better than seeing the northern lights. Great guide. And then came back to the farm and offered coffee and pastries. Perfect afternoon in mid-winter Reykjavik.

5.00I went with my husband and son. What a wonderful family! We were made welcome and the group guides were really good! I was absolutely terrified and ended up with a horse who liked to be at front and do some sprints… we bonded I love him Kousta thank you so much for having us

5.00Despite the extremely freezing weather and rain throughout the ride, this Iceland horse riding experience was still really enjoyable and memorable. The horses seemed very well cared for, which was lovely to see, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Pick-up and drop-off were smooth and easy, and the protective clothing they provided was surprisingly warm and very comfortable — a lifesaver in that Icelandic weather! Overall, a positive experience and definitely worth doing, even in the wild conditions. 🐴❄️🇮🇸

5.00Loved riding through the countryside with Laxnes Horse Farm! We were fortunate enough to be just us, on this December day, and still we were greeted by all 3 generations of Laxnes men, who outfitted us comfortably and couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our conversations with them too. The fresh air and beautiful skies, the horses so surefooted on the icy trails, crossing streams and puddles, made for a wonderful day!
