When you book, you will receive a list of suggestions on how to dress for the day.

CHECK IN time is 15 minutes prior to tour departure. Arriving at departure time or afterwards will likely result in you missing your tour.

The transport to the starting point will either be by private minivan or by public transport depending on the size of the group and the ice/weather conditions.

This tour operates in all weathers unless the guide deems it unsafe.

This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants to operate, should this minimum not be reached you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

What To Expect

Don’t worry if you’ve never tried ice skating before, anyone can do it! Come and join us for a very Swedish winter adventure; skating on natural ice in and around Stockholm. It’s such a thrilling sensation gliding on the ice, and a truly unique experience that you will never forget! Your guide will brief you on the tour and the safety equipment first off, then coach you on the best technique for gliding easily over the ice. There will be a few practice exercises to perfect that technique before you set off on your adventure! You will skate for 3-4 hours before stopping for a well-earned picnic lunch. There will be hot drinks, an open fire and our classic outdoor lunch on offer.We always strive to find the best natural ice on the day of your tour. This means that, depending on the weather conditions, the location of our adventure and the skating conditions may vary. We could go to a small lake, to Lake Mälaren (the 5th largest lake in Europe) or to the Baltic Sea in Stockholm’s Archipelago – we won’t know until that day. We skate on all types of natural ice; from hard black ice, to ice with water or snow on top. One thing we do know for sure, is it’ll be a great experience!

Johan was an exceptional guide: Knowledgable; kind; and patient. It was challenging to gain comfort with Nordic skates, but the joy of sailing across a frozen lake was worth the effort. I fell in love with Sweden.

They are not professional at all. I haven't had ice skating before and one organizator pushed me from my back to skate faster and i fell down very badly. And had to back home in first hour. they didn't give my money back. Terrible organization.

Went on the beginners ice skating tour with my family this January and it was so much fun! + the team was super lovely and accommodating, we are from Australia so as you can imagine had absolutely no experience in ice skating but still all had heaps of fun (tip: if you know how to ski you may have an easier time). Especially for my mum, who couldn’t really get the hang of ice skating, they took her to visit a local art exhibition/cafe for the last half and she had a great time as well! Would 100% recommend if you’re visiting Stockholm as a great place to experience the local nature :)

Great experience! The guides were very friendly and gave good advice. The break at the foot of the fire was very pleasant and everything was thought of and planned for the meal. The only downside is to bring a change of socks because the water passes through the shoes.

Ice skating with Stockholm adventures was amazing ! They brought us to the best places and made sure we had an amazing time. Our guide was calm, interesting, knowledgeable and super cool. It was a great way to embrace the Swedish nature, get on the ice and do some sports !

Upon arrival at the meeting point, we were fitted with the correct boots, helmets and acquainted with the safety procedures. A short trip out of the city and we were on the ice. Anders was helpful with technique and helped as needed on the ice. We skated for a while then stopped for lunch which was part of the tour - fresh sandwich, fruit, hot tea/coffee/chocolate. A little more skating before heading back in the afternoon. I had not done a lot of ice skating prior to this but found it was easier than expected. Suitable for people of all abilities. Take a spare pair of socks to change into after skating.
