My husband and I came to Istanbul for our 5th anniversary and we wanted something more local for one of our days. Ali was the perfect guide for it. The ferry over felt special on its own, and Üsküdar's waterfront was so peaceful compared to the European side. Kuzguncuk was where we lost our hearts though, all the colorful old houses, the cafes, the calm village energy in the middle of a megacity. Ali seemed to know everyone we passed, stopped to introduce us to a few shopkeepers, and the slow pace was exactly what we needed. Best day of the trip.

Six of us, all 30s, on a long weekend in Istanbul. After two days of nonstop Sultanahmet crowds we needed something different and this tour was a revelation. Ali took us across to the Asian side and we suddenly understood that most of what tourists see is only a fraction of the city. Üsküdar's local mosques and seaside felt lived in, not staged. Kuzguncuk was the kind of neighborhood you want to move to. We left understanding Turkish daily life so much better. Without this tour we would have completely missed the heart of Istanbul

If we hadn't booked this tour, we honestly would never have crossed to the Asian side and we'd have left Istanbul thinking we'd seen the city. We'd have been so wrong. Ali took us through Üsküdar's mosques and waterfront, then to Kuzguncuk where our kids (7 and 10) chased the neighborhood cats down those colorful cobblestone streets. The way Ali explained how locals actually live here, the daily rhythms, the corner bakeries, the tea gardens, helped us understand Turkish culture in a way no museum visit ever could

Five of us, all 20s/30s, in Istanbul for our friend's bachelorette weekend. We wanted something cute and chill the day after our big night out and this was perfect. Ali was patient with our hungover energy and walked us through the colorful streets of Kuzguncuk where we took about 8000 photos between us. Üsküdar gave us amazing waterfront views and Ali pointed out the best spots for photos with the Maiden's Tower behind us. He even took us to a cafe with the best Turkish breakfast we'd ever had. The bride loved it. Such a sweet afternoon.

We were on day 4 of our Istanbul trip and starting to feel tired of the same touristy areas. Ali took us to Üsküdar and Kuzguncuk on the Asian side and it felt like discovering a whole new city. Our kids (8 and 11) loved walking through Kuzguncuk because of the bright painted houses, like a real life storybook. Ali showed us the street where the mosque, church and synagogue are all next to each other and it sparked a really meaningful conversation with our kids about how different people can live together. Üsküdar was more historical and the views of the Maiden's Tower from the waterfront were incredible. Best afternoon of our 10 days in Istanbul.
