It is fascinating! Fener and Balat are very beautiful districts with many colorful houses. Prices are reasonable, not touristic. You can experience a more local atmosphere and find many nice places to explore. I highly recommend trying Turkish coffee cooked in sand. It is also a very important area for Christians and Jews, with many churches and synagogues. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly. If you have time, you should definitely walk through these streets with a tour guide!
