We had a great half day tour with Kemal - he was very accommodating to our stroller and baby, and helpful in carrying things so we could enjoy the sights. The grand bazar was closed due to the holiday so instead he took us to multiple other locations, and dropped us at the ferry after when he heard we wanted to go to Kadakoy. Would highly recommend!

Great tour of Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque with expert guide. Would recommend for those two sites alone The guide answered all our questions and was great about sharing the history of each site. The only reason I’m not giving a 5-star is that I assumed the grand bazaar was guided and we were only given directions to the bazaar. One of the reasons I booked this tour is I thought it we would get some insights into the market.

It was not good value for money. We were escorted inside the Blue Mosque and provided information about the monuments in the square. The entrance fee into Sophia Hadia was not included and was not worth the additional $35 to us. The only option was to wait ourside in the cold for 40 minutes until others completed the tour. That was not acceptable so we ended the tour there. We found our own way to the Grnad Bazaar. We could have pretty much done all of this on our own.

What an amazing day with our amazing guide, Kamal! Meeting us at our hotel at 9am, we got started at the Hippodrome into the Blue Mosque. Kemal asked up front: "How much history and facts do you want?", which my wife especially appreciated, as she and my daughter are not as big of history nerds and my son and I are. Kamal threaded the needle fantastically. There is so much history, so many stories, and so much behind this ancient city that it can be overwhelming to people; it takes skill to communicate that history in a way that is engaging for both adults and children. He did it extremely well. After the mosque, we went to the Hagia Sophia, where we were able to review 1500 years of history in a period of about 90 minutes - 900 years of Church, 500 years of mosque, and the last 100 years of it as a museum. The best part of the tour, though (and this is from a history nerd) was the visit to the Q-arts pottery/ceramic studio, followed by a visit to the ancient cisterns + presentation on the traditional art of rug-weaving in Turkey. If you have kids, or are interested in TRULY supporting artisans, these two locations can't be missed. I could keep going on, but I'll wrap it up - we finished with an amazing lunch, and are now discussing when we can come back to Turkey to see the rest of the items we missed this time.
