It is one of the three major Inari shrines in Japan, along with Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto Prefecture and Kasama Inari Shrine in Ibaraki Prefecture. It is second only to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine among the shrines in Kyushu.
