What To Expect

This is truly the perfect way to enjoy your evening! During this 2.5 hour sail, you will enjoy a guided tasting of the variety of wines grown & produced right here in Nova Scotia. Learn about the wineries and grapes as you sample an award-winning sparkling, a Tidal Bay (Nova Scotia's appellation wine), a rose, and a red wine. As part of this tour, you will enjoy a hands-on sailing experience along the Halifax skyline past George's Island towards McNabs Island, and finally into the narrows of the Northwest Arm to see some of the beautiful homes as the sun sets. Enjoy your time while seated at the bow, or relax with our crew at the stern of during this beautiful, intimate sailing experience.

Had a wonderful sunset cruise with Captain Ryan. Appreciated being on a beautiful sailboat with a limited number of people (as opposed to the larger boats we passed with people crammed together like sardines). Enjoyed tasting the local wines expertly poured by Emerson. We were told we could bring snacks but didn’t really need to as there was ample food provided. (I did bring some chocolate which paired nicely with the red wine!) Highly recommend this trip.

Ryan the captain and Mitch his first mate were excellent. The experience from beginning to end was exceptional. If you go to Halifax, I urge you to book this trip.

We live in Ontario and we did a two week driving trip around the maritimes for our holiday this year. We experience several great moments. This voyage on the J. Farwell “wine and cheese evening cruise” in Halifax was the highlight of the whole trip. Our captain (Andrew) was friendly extremely competent and very knowledgeable about the area and sailing. We not only felt safe but comfortable. He had extensive knowledge of the area and its history. We really enjoyed the wine and cheese that was served by Mitch. He was funny and had keen knowledge of what he was serving. He was also a competent sailor and added tremendously to the experience. When we return to the area again someday we will definitely plan another cruise with J. Farewell’s Sailing.

Fin, Paul and Alexandra were amazing staff who made our sailing experience amazing. They were knowledgeable, welcoming and hospitable. We loved learning about Halifax's history while we led expertly sailing around the waters. A must do!

We had a fantastic time! It was our 1st time on a sailboat. The sunset cruise with wine pairings & charcuterie board was a special treat. Our guides were excellent. Would definitely do it again.

Truly the best time. It was my dad's 75th birthday, and the captain and crew went out of their way to make sure it was a memorable evening. Excellent sail, excellent service and a great way to see Halifax. A must do.

This was a great way to start our trip. We met some lovely Canadians on our boat. Paul and Derek were amazing and knowledgeable about the area and the wines. Beautiful sunset. Highly recommended.
