Mehrangarh Fort
Mehrangarh Fort is on a hilltop, about 400 ft above the surrounding old town. A winding road from the city leads to the fort, secured by 120 ft high walls. These walls protect some of the most beautiful palaces and cultural antiquities of Rajasthan. Following its foundation in the mid-15th century, Mehrangarh Fort has been built by its many owners in multiple styles. As a result, it has diverse architecture styles pertaining to the phase of its development. Mehrangarh Fort architecture is a potpourri of styles. The interiors don’t have a clear demarcation of the architectural styles. While some parts seem inspired by the Rajputana style, others give a glimpse of the Mughal architecture. There are several other variations inside Mehrangarh Fort. As the fort changed hands, every ruler expanded and upgraded the fort to meet their needs.
Jaswant Thada
The city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India, is home to many historic sites and monuments. One of the most iconic of these monuments is the Jaswant Thada. Built in 1899, this splendid marble cenotaph was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh. The monument was built as a cremation ground for the royal family of Jodhpur. It is said that the monument was built by the famous architect Lallu Lal, who had also designed the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. The white marble used in Jaswant Thada's construction creates a spectacular monument, showcasing the architectural brilliance of the Rajputs. The Jaswant Thada is a popular tourist destination in Jodhpur and is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Here, visitors can take in the serene atmosphere and enjoy the picturesque view of the Mehrangarh Fort, which is located nearby. The view of the fort against the backdrop of the Jaswant Thada is truly breathtaking.

We had such a great time on our tour with Bantu! It honestly opened our eyes to Jodhpur in a way we wouldn’t have seen on our own. He showed us hidden streets, explained the history in a really engaging way, and shared personal stories that made everything feel more meaningful. We also really appreciated how he talked about his culture and daily life it made the experience feel very genuine, not just like a standard tour. One of the best tours we had on our trip in India!

Bantu is an exceptional guide with in-depth local knowledge that you won't find in a travel brochure. I highly recommend his walking tour. Bantu's English speaking is perfect and the walking tour is not rushed with plenty of time for detailed information, asking questions and enjoying local street food, sweets and masala chai. It was a wonderful experience and I will be recommending it to all my friends and family who visit Jodhpur.

We called Bantu last minute and he picked us up from our hotel for a private 2 hour tour. It was a fantastic introduction to Jodhpur. We saw backstreets and met locals and enjoyed every minute. Book a private tour for when you first arrive and it will set you up for your whole stay.

Our private walking tour of Jodhpur with Bantu was excellent. We contacted him ahead of the trip, via Whatsapp and he was very responsive. On the day of the tour, he came to meet us at our hotel, perfectly on time. He has a very kind and calm manner, his English is excellent, he is very knowledgeable and a true pleasure to talk to. He made sure that we were ok with the amount of history and facts he was sharing with us, open to any question and tailored the tour to our needs. We were really glad we engaged him for this tour as we would not have ventured in the narrow streets of Old Jodhpur without him. Bantu guided us patiently through the wonderful maze of old shops, where we could see bangle-makers or the lovely gentleman who repairs the sewing machines (yes!), historical buildings, blue facades and lanes, helping us with pictures as well, up to a breath-taking panoramic viewpoint at the feet of the Fort, where we had drinks (needed after the little climb!) while admiring the city at sunset. He will ask you if you are interested in seeing specific shops but he will not pressurize you into going - we appreciated his attitude. We actually chose to visit an antiques/textiles shop as we had not had the time to do any shopping up to that point and, even if it can be a bit time-consuming (we expected it so just went with the flow and enjoyed the experience), we went for it and actually bought a few items. We loved our tour with Bantu and we would 100% recommend his services - thank you!

The walking tour with Bantu was excellent. He showed us some beautiful hidden gems, great for pictures, and told us stories and insights. He is a true local with deep knowledge of the history of the place and you can really feel that. There is no way you can get such insider view without a local. Highly recommended.

We really cannot recommend Bantu enough. Definitely the best tour we have done in India so far, an unmissable highlight of our time in Jodphur. It was the making of our short but sweet stay in Jodphur, as we felt like we really got to experience the heart of this beautiful city - from the people and the culture, to the history and street food. No question went unanswered and no request was too big. Bantu catered to the kind of tour we wanted and was extremely informative. We loved every moment with him, and hope he can continue to share this city with many others! Thank you Bantu!
