You are about to go on a relaxed-paced journey through 14-centuries of Dubrovnik's history. You will get to understand why the city was founded in this specific location, learn about the Golden Age of the Republic of Dubrovnik, what events led to the crisis and the fall of the Republic, to the turbulent events that marked the end of the 20th century and led to a brutal war for independence. Finally, you will hear a story about the break of Yugoslavia and the War in Dubrovnik in 1991.
The Old Town's most impressive landmarks and hidden details will also be covered.
You will get to know local culture and customs, understand why we locals are so immensely proud of our city and its history, and why the word "Libertas" is carved in the hearts of local people.

What To Expect
Kolorina Bay
Our tour starts with a brief introduction just outside of the Old Town. After that, you will get basic information about the tour, what places we will visit, and a short overview of the City's history from its foundation in the 7th century until today.
Pile Gate
Pile Gate has always been the main entrance into the city. You will hear a story about the construction of the City Walls and a protective mote. You will get to know why there is a statue of one saint in many places on the City Walls and important buildings in the city.

5.00We missed our group tour we'd signed up for, and couldn't find another group in the limited time left in our trip. So it was a great to be able to book a private tour at a time of our choice. This proved to be a perfect way to see and learn more about the Old Town, how the locals live, and history of the area. Jadranka was very knowledgable and a pleasure to spend a couple of hours with. For the price, I'd choose this sort of experience over a group tour any day.
