Many local landowners in the surrounding area have converted their properties into palm plantations. Our reserve is one of the few that kept its original rainforest, protected by the same family for generations. This makes the night walk truly authentic, with real wildlife in a natural ecosystem guided by a certified ICT naturalist.

What To Expect
After meeting your guide near the Quepos cemetery, you will follow them in your own vehicle to a private rainforest reserve hidden inside palm plantations. Upon arrival at the property, your certified naturalist guide will provide safety instructions and a quick orientation. As the sun sets, you will begin a guided walk through the forest using headlamps to spot nocturnal wildlife. The trail is flat and the walk lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Along the way, your guide will help you identify frogs, insects, sleeping birds, reptiles, and other creatures that become active at night. You’ll learn about nocturnal behavior, natural camouflage, and the importance of rainforest conservation. The experience ends back at the property, where you’ll return your boots and can ask final questions before driving out.

An incredible night hike

5.00My husband and I were able to book this night hike with little notice and yet, we had terrific communication with the tour guide leading up to the meeting spot. The meeting spot is super easy to find (we had own transportation) and Andres promptly met us there. It was clear upon initial conversation with him that he is incredibly knowledgeable! On the way out to the finca he stopped to show us yellow throated toucans and pointed out other sounds we were hearing. Upon arrival at the finca, Andres fitted us with boots, we were able to use the bathroom and then we headed out on the adventure. While nature is unpredictable, we saw so many things including spiders, a basilik lizard, a heron, kinkajou, several frogs, frog eggs, a salamander some other reptiles and to finish the hike a beautiful sky with stars out! We received cold water and refreshing fruit at the en of our hike. Andres was able to share information with us about the history of the land as well as information about the creatures we were seeing. We had lots of questions and he was super patient in answering all of them. This night hike offers an ability to be away from crowds and to have a real authentic Costa Rican hike in the natural surroundings. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants an experience out of the ordinary!

5.00I really enjoyed this night tour in Manuel Antonio. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and he explained everything in a very clear and engaging way. The forest at night was truly impressive and we were able to see many frogs, insects, and even a small opossum family. It rained a little, but nothing major, and the guide always made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. The group was small, which made the experience feel very personal and enjoyable. I loved this tour and would definitely do it again.

5.00The night tour was an amazing experience. From the beginning, the guide showed extensive knowledge and a great willingness to answer questions, which made the tour even more interesting. We had the opportunity to observe animals that only appear at night and learn fascinating details about their behavior. The walk was safe, well organized and full of surprises. Undoubtedly, an activity highly recommended for those who want to experience nature from another perspective.
