Sengan-en
Sengan-en is a Japanese style stately home and landscape garden along the coast north of downtown Kagoshima. Sengan-en was built in 1658 as one of the residences of the powerful Shimadzu clan. One of the garden's most striking features is its use of active volcano Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay as borrowed scenery. The gardens cover 50,000 square meters and include calming ponds, bubbling streams, mysterious shrines, a bamboo grove, and a mountain hiking trail. Visit Tsurugane Shrine and pray to become more beautiful, or the unusual Cat Shrine and pray for the health and longevity of your feline friend! The expansive house provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of one of Japan’s most influential feudal lords, and hosted Edward VIII of the UK and Nicholas II of Russia among others. See the rooms that the lord spent his daily life in and enjoy the view of the gardens and scenery beyond as only a samurai lord could.
Shoko Shuseikan Museum
Kyu Shuseikan Kikai Kojo(Shouko Shuseikan) The extant oldest western-style factory building in Japan. The exhibits currently showcase items related to the Satsuma domain's modernization projects.

Cozy and Tada catered to our every need, and we had a lot of them with 4 young children. They took great care of us and gave great information about the history. They took us to make soba noodles which everyone enjoyed. They let us stop at 7Eleven. They were very patient. The stories were great and so were the origami lessons. There were 3 of them including a driver, just for us. Very nice and accommodating. We all had a great time with them.

Cozy was an excellent tour guide. Her and Tada were very accommodating and provided a unique experience. Our family consisted of 4 children under 9 years old and 3 adults. They were nice and made this such a memorable time with our family. I highly recommend anyone traveling to Kagoshima, to book them for your next tour.

We had a great time today on our custom tour of Kagoshima with a private car and driver. Our English-speaking guide, Tachi, and tour coordinator, Tada were extremely professional, respectful and friendly. They were very informative and remained flexible which made it very relaxing and enjoyable. Today, we visited the Arimura Lava Observatory on Sakurajima, the Chiran Samurai Garden, and the Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots. In Chiran, we enjoyed organic Chiran tea. We take away great memories of our time in Kagoshima Thank you so much Tachi and Tada. We highly recommend your tour.

What a wonderful day exploring Kagoshima. Our English guide Tach and tour coordinator Tada guided us. The driver was excellent and felt very safe. We were visiting for one day only off a cruise ship so we needed our day to be busy seeing many places. We had planned to visit the Volcano, the wind and rain were strong, so we canceled the visit to Sakurajima and went to Sengan-en Garden. We had Kagoshima's specialty black pork for lunch, then went shopping, ate soft-serve matcha ice cream, shopped at a 100-yen shop, and finally visited the cityscape of Kagoshima City and Sakurajima from the Shiroyama Observatory. These guides were so informative and made sure that we got to see and experience what we were interested in. Lunch was especially good! Nothing was too much trouble. It was a wonderful day of exploring and understanding Japanese history, food and culture.

As frequent travelers to Japan, our family was impressed by the quality of this tour. Our tour guides displayed an excellent the level of professionalism and hospitality. Especially as we traveled with someone in a wheelchair, Mr. Tada and Ms. Cozy were very observant and accommodated to our travel groups specific needs and requests. Furthermore, they engaged well with the kids - teaching them origami and actively conversing with them. Both of them were proficient in English and were very fun and amiable people. Furthermore, the tour itself was very fascinating and their commentary provided profound insight into Japanese history. They also brought us to try different local foods, like black pork tonkatsu/soba and the most delicious matcha ice cream. I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody traveling with family and enjoy the beauty of Kagoshima.

What an outstanding tour to the sand baths, whisky distillery, and Japanese lunch. The tour guide was exceptional and we loved everything about our tour. Highly recommend the sand baths experience - so unique and relaxing. The whiskey tasting included a tour of a restored, traditional Japanese home and garden which was beautiful. So good!!

We did a custom tour with a group of 5 families all with kids and it was amazing! Our favorite tour of all of our Japan cruise stops. The extra touches of learning origami on the bus ride and giving the kids plastic samurai swords was perfect. The kids loved having samurai battles and still talk about that being their favorite thing we did in Japan. I left my AirPods on the bus and Tadayuki went above and beyond to track them down and then deliver them to me in Tokyo. Thank you!!
