Sengan-en
Sengan-en is a Japanese style stately home and landscape garden along the coast north of downtown Kagoshima. Sengan-en was built in 1658 as one of the residences of the powerful Shimadzu clan. One of the garden's most striking features is its use of active volcano Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay as borrowed scenery. The gardens cover 50,000 square meters and include calming ponds, bubbling streams, mysterious shrines, a bamboo grove, and a mountain hiking trail. Visit Tsurugane Shrine and pray to become more beautiful, or the unusual Cat Shrine and pray for the health and longevity of your feline friend! The expansive house provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of one of Japan’s most influential feudal lords, and hosted Edward VIII of the UK and Nicholas II of Russia among others. See the rooms that the lord spent his daily life in and enjoy the view of the gardens and scenery beyond as only a samurai lord could.
Shoko Shuseikan Museum
Kyu Shuseikan Kikai Kojo(Shouko Shuseikan) The extant oldest western-style factory building in Japan. The exhibits currently showcase items related to the Satsuma domain's modernization projects.

As frequent travelers to Japan, our family was impressed by the quality of this tour. Our tour guides displayed an excellent the level of professionalism and hospitality. Especially as we traveled with someone in a wheelchair, Mr. Tada and Ms. Cozy were very observant and accommodated to our travel groups specific needs and requests. Furthermore, they engaged well with the kids - teaching them origami and actively conversing with them. Both of them were proficient in English and were very fun and amiable people. Furthermore, the tour itself was very fascinating and their commentary provided profound insight into Japanese history. They also brought us to try different local foods, like black pork tonkatsu/soba and the most delicious matcha ice cream. I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody traveling with family and enjoy the beauty of Kagoshima.

We had a wonderful time in Kagoshima with a well thought out itinerary by Tabikago Tourss. They accommodated our large group of 18 and made the day very memorable with a very knowledgeable guide Ted San, accompanied by the tour operator Tada San In a very comfortable minibus. Communication was great and they made Kagoshima one of the highlights of our trip Having visited Senganen Gardens and experiencing the Volcanic sand baths. Tada San Was very thoughtful and even arranged for a lovely lunch in the local specialty of black pork at a local Restaurant which was Incredibly delicious. By far, this was one of the more memorable tours of our Japan trip and a highlight of our family reunion. Thank you again Tada San and Ted San for a wonderful day.

Pleasant tour guide and associates. Great minibus and venues. Very nice day. Ted, our guide, is full of knowledge but has a soft voice. It would have been nice to have him on a microphone when outside the bus. Difficult to hear him unless you were standing by him. Felt a little rushed on sites and we were told we could stay a little longer to see the places, but at $400.00 US per hour.

It was a wonderful day with Tada and Mio, who spoke English very well. They were very prompt with having to divert from the planned itinerary due to a personal unforeseen incident. They even went out of their way to make special accommodations. A visit to Sengan-en is highly recommended. One could spend a day strolling the gardens and enjoying the beautiful views of Sakurajima and Kinko Bay. Having Tada as your professional tour guide will also make it memorable. You’ll need to book a tour with him to find out why.

Our tour was through the Tabikago tour agency and Tada did an amazing job scheduling what was an excellent and enjoyable tour for our family. From the start, he made sure we knew about a potential customs delay and ensured that our itinerary worked around that issue. He set us up with Tachi and Koji for the day which included a beautiful tour of the Chiran Peace Museum, samurai houses and soba noodle making and lunch. We finished the day with a private tour and tasting at a whisky distillery. It was a terrific day and Koji even had gifts for our kids. I can’t say enough about this tour. Thank you again.
