You meet your guide who takes you and the other guests up to Lastos, near the highest mountain of Karpathos at 700m above sea level. From there you walk to the lush green forests or Lastos with spectacular viewpoints and historic buildings.

What To Expect
You have probably heard about the Kali Limni hike from Lastos. What you might not have heard about is the Lastos hike that takes you from the monastery of Archangelou Mychael through pine-tree forests, spectacular viewpoints where we can see Kyra Panagia and the fertile land in Mertonas which provides Pigadia with water, to waterfalls in the winter and spring. This hike takes you off the grid in a fantastic way that might not be for the hiker who has fear of heights. This tour takes our breath away immediately. Old stavlos and the fertile land gives us a clue about the settlers that once took advantage of this land and made it their own. Goats and sheep are following us along the path, and do not feel alarmed when their bells are ringing in the distance. They are as much part of this land as the rocks we are walking on. Take a minute to feel the quietness of this beautiful landscape when your guide stops the group for a coffee or a snack. Don’t forget our motto – take only pictures, leave no trace.

5.00Hiking with Art and Walk offers the chance to experience nature up close, find peace and enjoy breathtaking views of wild nature and beautiful vistas. Led by the friendly and enthusiastic Thom who has a lot of knowledge of the environment, culture and customs of the people (he has been able to inspire us with interesting stories) I have been able to enjoy beautiful walk surrounded by enchanting smells of thyme and sage. Walked through narrow goat paths with some tough climbs. You come across characterful dilapidated houses, you see grazing cows, goats and sheep. In the middle of this is a beautiful chapel where we were allowed to enjoy a well-deserved break with a delicious homemade tea of sage with thyme honey from Katpathos. Highly recommended for those who love nature and adventure. Definitely worth it! Thom and Renate - thank you so much!

5.00I really can’t recommend Art and Walk enough if you want to do a hike in Karpathos! We joined both the Lastos hike and Agia Kyriaki walk with Renate and had a great time. Renate is great company and so knowledgeable and passionate about the island. Got to see a lot of goats and other animals too in addition to amazing views.

5.00We were collected by our guided in Pigadia(recommended) as the starting point can take some time to find if you are new on the Island. Our guide Thom is from Sweden but has lived in the mountain with his wife in Karpathos in many years where they have explored the mountain area, the nature ( flowers, animals and vegetations) and have collected a lot of enlightening stories of the surrounding mountain area including the history of the Island. The views are breath taking, the colors and smells from spices blend into the demanding walk some places on the rim to the sky and the endless space. Thom will deliver stories and knowledge from this remote paradise. Just ‘hit the road’ and find the hidden sleeping ‘Stone Giant’

5.00If you want to do something different, discover more about the territory, flora and fauna, see beautiful views in good company, the walk to Lastos is definitely the right choice. Renate is really a special person: smiling, sunny and very attentive to the needs of the group. I highly recommend the experience.
