Every week Art and Walk guides you through a forest path to the Agia Kyriaki church overlooking the Aegean sea. The walk starts in Pigadia at the taxi-station where we take the stairs up to a beautiful viewpoint of Pigadia. Along the way you can spot an ancient temple, see old stavlos (old Greek stables), smell the scent of pine trees and local herbs of Karpathos, have a peek inside the Agia Kyriaki church and enjoy gorgeous views of the nearby villages and the sea.

Meet your guide at the Alpha Bank (old taxi station) of Pigadia early in the morning at 8:30am. We start at this hour to avoid the summer-heat. This adventure leads you just outside of the city of Pigadia, following the path to the Agia Kyriaki chapel. You walk passed old stavlos and olive fields while overlooking the Aegean sea and spotting all the Southern villages while you reach the higher part of the walk. The Agia Kyriaki chapel is open for a visit and offers a great set-up for a break in the shade. Passing through the pine tree forest, you find several lovely views of the Eastern coast by Pigadia unfolding right in front of you. Once leaving the pine tree forest path you will find yourself back in Pigadia around 11:30am. The guide stops frequently for photo opportunities and the walking pace is not high. The walk takes about 3,5 hours. It is a challenging walk, with a steep ascent or descent. Distance: 7km. Height difference: +330 m / 0 m.

Beautiful walk with a driven and experienced guide. Renate showed us several things and told us about it on the way to the Agia Kyriaki church. The walking route is both in the sun and in the shade and there is almost always a breeze. The walk is easy to do and there are regular stops to catch your breath, drink and to keep the group together. You can set your own pace and Renate emphasizes that in the beginning. It is an excursion with a relatively small group, which I found pleasant. If you like hiking and want to know more about the area and Agia Kyriaki, then I definitely recommend this excursion!

We had a lovely walk with beautiful views. Very special was the energetic Guide Renate and the fun with which she told about the region and the church. The story about Maria Kyriaki will stay with me forever. Go for what you want!

A lovely ride that felt in the legs. Amazing views and very nice and knowledgeable Guide. A big climb at the beginning of the tour, but after a little rest it was fine to continue and the road leveled off. The descent felt much shorter and we followed a mountain bike trail. Not difficult, but requires concentration. Highly recommended!

I have had the pleasure of taking three guided walks with Renate from Art & Walk, and each walk exceeded my expectations. Renate's guidance led us through beautiful natural landscapes while providing a wealth of information about the local flora, fauna and inhabitants of the island. Her passion for the environment and community is reflected in her compelling stories. I highly recommend Art & Walk! Advice: shoes with a good profile.

Tour organized by “Art and walk”. Guiden Thom who has lived at Karpathos for 11 years, has a lot of knowledge to share. This is a "near mountain tour" - it made it so that I could fine use the mountain alone after such a guided tour
