Initially, the tour was postponed to another day due to bad weather, which made a lot of sense. Two days later we started. Our guide, Ian, picked us up at our accommodation, and together with another guest we drove to the starting point. So there were only four of us with Führer, really great. The hike was an unforgettable experience. At more than 900 meters altitude, of course, strenuous, but with a reasonably good fitness level good to master. Our guide Ian was super nice and considerate, we can highly recommend!

A friend and I did the Kasteelspoort to Table Mountain Hike with Hike Table Mountain (hiking tour operator). From getting advice on best hikes to do to booking the hike and experience on the day - everything was spot on! The owner, Riian, was very responsive and knowledgable when I contacted him to enquire about the different hikes. Confirming and booking the hike was then very straightforward and transparent. Mike, who was our guide for the day, was really friendly and professional, making sure everyone was following the path and having a great time. We learnt a lot from him regarding the various plants/flowers/herbs we came across as we climbed/hiked in the mountain, which was great. Overall, an amazing and very enjoyable hike in the Table Mountain!

I was on a short solo trip to Cape Town and contacted Riaan just the evening before the day i wanted to hike. Despite the short notice, he arranged the hike without any issue. He asked about my fitness level and recommended the Kasteelspoort trail. At first, I was a little hesitant since it’s known as one of the more challenging hikes, but his team member Mike made sure everything went smoothly. He was supportive throughout the hike and even offered hotel pickup, which was very convenient. I’m truly grateful to both Riaan and Mike for making this such a memorable experience. It was easily the highlight of my holiday!

One of the highlights of our South African experience. Our guide, Mike, was so knowledgable and made Kastellspoort truly accessible. I was very appreciative of the different terrains as my fitness hasn’t been great for the past few months. Mike stopped regularly to tell us about the different flowers and history of the mountain which allowed me to stretch and catch my breath before we started again. A truly memorable experience that I would repeat in a heartbeat. Rian was a great help booking the experience so we choose the right one and he was absolutely right that Kastellspoort was the most appropriate level of challenge. No aches and pains for any of us which means he judged it absolutely right.

Amazing experience hiking Table Mountain with Mike Wakeford. He picked me and my Fiancee up at 6:30am for the hike and from the first minute we felt welcome and comfortable with him. His knowledge was very impressive and he made the hike incredibly enjoyable. A true gem to your company. Thank you Mike

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We booked this hiking tour at the very last minute, but the team went above and beyond to accommodate us. Ethan, our guide, was absolutely fantastic! His knowledge of the area made the experience both enriching and enjoyable. What really stood out were the lesser-known trails Ethan took us on. We explored paths that were not only less trodden but completely free of crowds, offering a sense of tranquility and exclusivity. The views were simply breathtaking—a true feast for the eyes and soul. If you're looking for a guided hike that combines expertise, stunning scenery, and an intimate experience away from the usual tourist spots, this is it. Highly recommend!

One of those things that exceeded my expectations! The first day I was supposed to hike my guide Steph picked me up, drove to the starting point and unfortunately it started to rain and we had to cancel the hike. In just 20 min car ride I could tell that I would have loved to hike with her! I tried again the following day and my assigned guide was Mike. Superb! 4 people in the group + our guide. Perfect group size (lovely people as well and met with some of them later for dinner), he looked after us throughout the whole hike, asking if we were doing OK and if the pace was OK, adjusting the speed if someone in our group was slightly slower. Apart from that, he gave us tons of information and details about what we were seeing, the route, plants we were encountering on the path. As far the hike itself: perfectly doable and truly enjoyable if you are moderately fit. I don't suffer from vertigo or fear of heights but in my view this hike could be done also if you have a moderate fear of heights and want a bit of a challenge. If you are thinking about doing it, train a bit on going uphill because you will need good legs. :-) The more trained you are and the more you will enjoy the hike! Tips: 1) Make sure you schedule the hike for the first days of your trip in case it gets cancelled due to bad weather (not unusual). 2) Hikes start very early in the day (pick up around 5.45 AM) so then you have the whole day to visit and explore the city, plan accordingly. Definitely worth the early wake up: we only met a small group on our hike! Final note: Riaan was a star, very accommodating, extremely helpful when I had to rearrange my dates both via WhatsApp and email. If I am going back to Cape Town I will definitely book another hike with them, no doubt.

My wife and I booked a guided hike with Hike Table Mountain. Response to our enquiry was quick, detailed and reassuring. Were collected from our hotel by Steph from HTM at 5.30am and driven to the starting point. Set off as the dawn light lit up Lions Head. Steph was a brilliant guide - immensely knowledgeable on the flora and fauna, the old cable car, the railway, reservoirs and small settlement on the top. The walking is not unduly strenuous and equivalent to UK Lake District hikes. The scrambling bits are straightforward with no threatening exposure. The views are stupendous, changing with the elevation - simply stunning. This hike was the highlight of our holiday. Anyone visiting Cape Town who is capable should climb Table Mountain. Finally, our thanks again to Steph for her mountain skills, knowledge and company.

Met by our guide for the day, Mike in the early morning light and immediately knew we were in for a good day as the conversation flowed and stories were swapped as we picked up a couple of other hikers and made our way to the start point above Camps Bay. Mike was great at guiding the group and setting a steady pace that kept the group together with plenty of stops to point out plants, history, views, wildlife and of course take a drink and fuel up on whatever snacks folks had brought. The hike itself was challenging but with a reasonable amount of fitness manageable for your average human! We were lucky that the weather was so good and glad we started so early with the majority of the significant climbing done in the shade. By the time we made it to the ‘diving board’ the sun was up and the temp was climbing. From the diving board the hike is steady although Mike was keen to remind us of the sting in the tail up to the final summit. All told a fab mornings work and we all definitely earned a drink for later that day
