  • A flawless trek, and Raj Rai and Jhalak Rai are the reason it was unforgettable

We booked our five-day Annapurna Base Camp trek with Cordial Private Trek LLC through GetYourGuide, and from the moment we confirmed, everything was handled. They reached out on WhatsApp within hours, sorted every permit and pass themselves, stored our bags during the trek, and provided sleeping bags and trekking poles. Every question we asked, and we asked many, came back fast, clear, and accurate. Our guide, Raj Rai, even arrived a day early to drop off our duffel bags so we could pack the night before rather than rush at dawn. Their responsiveness left us feeling safe and certain before we ever set off. Still, it was Raj Rai and Jhalak Rai who made this trip unforgettable. Raj kept the whole climb light and warm, never let our pace feel like a problem, and reminded us to go slow and steady even though he could have outpaced us with ease. Through the harshest weather, his banter was so easy and funny that it felt like trekking with a childhood friend. The moment I mentioned a headache or an upset stomach, he had medication ready. He carried oxygen for us, and when my jacket proved less than waterproof, he gave me his own raincoat. At one lodge, we arrived after sunset to find the private room we had booked partly given away, yet Raj somehow secured it back with everyone's goodwill, never once making the request feel unreasonable. When we chose to rest an extra half day at MBC, meaning a 2am wake-up for all of us, he and Jhalak simply agreed and rose with us in the dark. You cannot put a price on that kind of integrity. Raj also turned out to be a gifted photographer who cared about documenting the trek as much as I did. He seemed to understand how badly I wanted to hold onto these memories, and even when capturing them slowed us down, he embraced it fully, helping with photos and videos and soon pointing out the moments worth keeping before I could ask. It was thoughtful in a way that genuinely moved me. Jhalak Rai, our porter, carried our loaded duffels through an actual hailstorm and delivered them safely to the lodge. He bore the bulk of our gear across the entire trek, and we simply would not have finished without him. His strength is remarkable, but his humility about it was more remarkable still. You expect a trek like this to move you with its landscapes and its sunrises, and it did. But what truly stayed with us was Raj and Jhalak's care and humility, a warmth we rarely meet in our busy city lives. We cannot recommend Cordial Private Trek, Raj Rai, and Jhalak Rai highly enough.

  • Amazing Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Cordial Trek

I had an amazing experience doing the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Cordial Trek. Everything was well organized from Kathmandu to Pokhara, including the flights, jeep transfers, accommodation, meals, permits, guide, and porter service. The team was helpful and professional throughout the whole journey. A special thanks to our guide Raj, who was very supportive, patient, and always made sure everyone in the group was safe and comfortable. The porter was also excellent and very kind throughout the trek. The trek itself was challenging, especially with the altitude and long walking days, but the support from Cordial Trek made the experience smooth, safe, and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone planning to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience trekking with our guide, Raj. From the very beginning, he made us feel safe, supported, and well looked after every single day. He always made sure we knew the plan for the day ahead, explained everything clearly, and kept us informed about any rules, local customs, or important details along the way, which really helped us feel comfortable and prepared throughout the trek. Raj was incredibly attentive and caring, especially when one of us wasn’t feeling well. He regularly checked in on both of us, made sure we were coping okay, and never once made us feel rushed or pressured. Even during the tougher parts of the trek, he stayed positive, encouraging, and motivating, always making sure we reached each day’s destination safely no matter how difficult things felt. He also went above and beyond in so many ways that we truly appreciated. When we were tired or struggling, he helped carry some of our heavy things without hesitation, which made a huge difference to us. At the end of each day, he would even prepare fruit platters for us, which was such a thoughtful and kind gesture that really showed how much he cared about our wellbeing. On top of all of that, Raj kept us entertained throughout the trek with great conversation, stories, and a genuinely warm personality. He created such a positive atmosphere and made the whole experience not only easier, but genuinely enjoyable and memorable. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Raj is kind, professional, supportive, and truly cares about the people he is guiding. If we ever do another trek in Nepal, we would absolutely choose to go with him again. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a guide who will make you feel safe, cared for, and fully supported throughout your journey. Thank you Raj from Apekcha and Betul

Our guide Raj ensure our experience is pleasant! He even gives us banana during breaks while going up the mountain and gives us fruits every dinner! It is really highly appreciated and it touched us. The experience was also smooth where we are picked up from our hotel and dropped off also on our hotel at the end of the hike! Everything that is stated in the inclusion is surely there and when in doubt can confirm with Raj or Rameshwar from Cordial Trek. I highly recommend their agency and they also provide certification of your climb in ABC!

An incredible trek to Annapurna base with with Raj and Arjun as my guides. The guides were extremely professional and made my experience hiking to Annapurna that much more amazing, they feel more like friends to me than guides. Every little detail with the trip was absolutely perfect. I would definitely book cordial again for my future Everest base camp trek. I can’t recommend cordial enough! Thank you for one of the greatest life experiences I’ve ever had.

  • Wonderful Experience on a 5-Day ABC Trek

    Igor S,Apr 21, 2026

    - Review from Viator

We did a 5-day ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) trek in mid-April. We booked it just two days before the start, as we couldn’t decide whether to go on our own or with a group. In the end, we definitely recommend going with a group—especially if it’s your first time. Our guide was Raj Tamang, and the assistant was Sagar Tamang. Right after booking, we were contacted via WhatsApp. They provided all the necessary information, shared the guide’s contact details, answered all our questions, and requested passport photos for the permits. The organization was excellent, and we really appreciated how smoothly everything was handled. The guide and assistant were outstanding—very experienced, attentive, and genuinely caring. None of our questions went unanswered. They were always available, supportive, and kept us informed throughout the trek. When some of us felt unwell, they did everything they could to help, which we are very grateful for. Honestly, they are wonderful people. We were very lucky to have such experienced people guiding us—many thanks to them. According to this itinerary, you reach Annapurna Base Camp at the end of day 3. On day 4, you watch the sunrise and then begin the descent. In fact, day 4 was probably the most challenging—we had to cover around 20 km, the longest distance, and we moved at a fairly fast pace to stay on schedule. However, a good meal and a hot shower at the end can be a well-earned reward. Perhaps this long day could be split between days 4 and 5. On the final day, you walk for about 4–5 hours, have lunch, and then either return to Pokhara or optionally visit hot springs for 1.5–2 hours. This depends on the group, as some people may not want or have time for it. A very important note about health: reaching an altitude of 4,130 meters in just three days is quite fast. If you have the time, consider a 7-day itinerary—it will be easier on your body. In our group of nine people, four experienced discomfort due to altitude. I personally had the hardest time—I took six tablets over two days, which helped but did not fully relieve the symptoms. Only descending made a real difference; once we reached the overnight stop on day 4 at 2,340 meters, I felt significantly better. So make sure to bring medication: painkillers and something for stomach issues/indigestion/food poisoning, just in case (only one person in our group had stomach problems, but it’s better to be prepared). About water: bottled water is not available. You can refill your bottle with boiled water (most of us chose this option), which costs around 100–250 NPR per liter. Alternatively, you can use untreated water and purification tablets—some people did that, but make sure to bring enough tablets (many ended up asking the guide). Expect to drink about 2–4 liters per person per day. Food is simple: from the second day onward there is no meat available, but there are plenty of options such as local dishes, sandwiches, pizza, and toast—you won’t go hungry. Many people brought snacks like nuts and energy bars; in our case, we didn’t even finish them. At night, the rooms can be quite cold. Warm socks, a hat, gloves, and possibly thermal underwear are highly recommended. I slept wearing all of these and used two blankets, though some people had sleeping bags and seemed more comfortable. Accommodation is very basic everywhere—there are simply no other options. If you are traveling as a pair, you might get a private room on the first and last nights, but during the trek you will likely share rooms with other group members. At the highest point, there are no showers, so don’t forget wet wipes. Regarding difficulty level: I would say this trek is more suitable for beginners or for those trying high mountains for the first time. In our group, all nine participants were new to high-altitude trekking in Nepal. The pace was generally relaxed (only on day 4 did we move faster, as we were descending). Overall, we really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend it. The mountains are absolutely worth seeing.
