What To Expect
As you walk through the picturesque orchard, your guide will explain the history of avocados, how they are grown and the various orchard activities, tree and fruit development stages that occur throughout the year. You'll get a chance to pick your own avocado (season dependent). Watch a live demonstration of the harvesting machine used to pick fruit high in the trees. Meet some local native birds that call the orchard home. To top it off, you'll enjoy a delectable tasting of gourmet avocado dishes. A merchandise stand is available for the purchase of avocado-themed items and mementos.

5.00My husband and I signed up for the avocado tour off of the recommendation of our hotel. We had minimal expectations going in, and Tim completely knocked our socks off. The tour was wildly informative, and Tim graciously answered all of the (many) different questions we had. We learned about avocado growing in general, Tim’s orchard and how it came to be and some New Zealand history as well. Tim let us go up in his picking machine, which was a very cool experience. We opted to also do the gourmet avocado tasting at the end, which was well worth it. Everything was delicious, and Tim sent us the recipes after the tour. This was one of the last activities we did on a busy 8-day trip of the northern island, and we highly recommend it to anyone in the area. It was a truly authentic New Zealand experience, lead by a great guy. Also the avocado merch stand was full of novelty items that we loved. Please do this tour - you will love it just as much as we did.

5.00This avocado farm experience a totally must to do activity when you passing by the world’s avocado capital. The tour was informative and fun, our guide was super nice and expert and the avocado delicasies which we tasted were ubelivable good especially the avocado icecream. I tottaly recommend this for everybody.

5.00We had a great avocado tour at Tim's farm. We got a lot of exciting information about the avocados, but the highlight was of course the gourmet tasting. We couldn't decide what was most delicious because everything tasted great. We can recommend the tour to anyone!

5.00Fantastic visit to Tim’s Avocado farm. There were only 4 of us on the tour so it was a very personal tour. Very relaxed visit, lots of information from Tim & plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Who knew Avocados were so interesting !!! We felt the cost of the tour was very fair considering the time spent at the farm & the amazing Gourmet tasting. It was yummy.

5.00Sooo much information imparted, and sooo educational, it ought to be tax-deductible as a course. I am not the avocado junkie in our family, but that Guacamole sure gets in your mouth easily ... and repeatedly. Converted! Excellent value.
A highly recommended tour and such a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

5.00What a genuinely fascinating and brilliant experience. It was so great to see a couple’s dream of a better life coming true. And I didn’t realise avocados could be so interesting! We arrived onto the family run orchard and met the delightful Tim. He is the font of knowledge when it comes to avocados and listening to his journey from his previous career into growing, was so captivating to hear. We did a tour of the orchard whilst learning about avocados and Tim’s experiences. I would recommend the gourmet tour as you then get to try a range of homemade avocado products which were delicious. In summary, a highly recommended tour and such a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Tim. His enthusiasm and knowledge are fantastic. We learned a lot about avocados! The tasting afterwards was amazing. We had no idea you could make gelato from avocados! We highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn a bit more about the avocado industry. Michelle also gave some advice on how to tell if an avocado is ripe and some great recommendations on other things to see and do in Katikati.

5.00We really enjoyed meeting Tim the owner of the orchard. He has learned so much in only two years and has taken some very bold steps! We loved hearing about the avocado cycles and seeing the huge beautiful trees. Definitely you should book the gourmet food tour. We tried many different foods made with avocado! It was a very enjoyable two hours. And if you had time you could make a day out of it and go to the Katikati bird gardens which are on the same road. Make sure you come hungry!

5.00Absolutely excellent tour that we could not recommend enough. We learned so much during the tour and really enjoyed every second of it. The food they provided on the gourmet tour was excellent as well - the guacamole, avocado oils, etc... The history behind the owners/operators purchasing this orchard is inspiring as well.
