During our activity, we can enjoy a great kayaking adventure intertwined with birdwatching and cultural monuments, in our adventure we are going to meet with so many birds between them including flamingos (phoencopterus roseus), Pelicans (Pelicanus Crispus) and cultural monuments such as the monastery of st Mary and a secret small church called by local Shen Triadha (Holy Trinity). Our kayak guide is a special way to visit the Narta Lagoon, one of the most important lagoons in Albania.

What To Expect

After we meet at the meeting point, we are accommodated in vehicles to go to the starting point of the kayaking in Narte Lagoon, the drive from Vlora takes 30 minutes. After preparing the equipment, we set off for a kayaking adventure in Narte Lagoon, during the cruise we will have the opportunity to enjoy birdwatching. Nartes Lagoon It represents one of the largest and most important lagoons in Albania. It is located at the southern end of the coastal lowland, near the city of Vlora. It has a total area of 41.8 km2, about 1/3 of which, and mainly its area north, is used for the Skrofotina salt pan. This lagoon lies in the SE area of the Gulf of Vlora and is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a narrow littoral strip, which consists of alluvial dunes with a total length of about 8 km and a width of 100 to 1400 m. formed by the continuous accumulation of the solid flows of the Vjosa River. The symbol of the Lagoon is the Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus).

Nothing much to see at this place. There is a monastery with wooden walkway over the river. The view is good and it’s peaceful. There is a car park.

Great experience. We kayaked for about 3hours and saw lots of herons and some flamingoes flew past. Everything was very smooth and Arnold was a great guide. The lagoon is a beautiful and peaceful place, I would highly recommend it.

Thank you our guide. We started from our house early in the morning to avoid the midday heat. Have seen many birds, flamingo and heron. The guide's explanations were very informative. We really enjoyed bird watching, sea view, also visited old church and monastery. My advice to bring along protective swimming shoes as you will need to walk through mud to get in and out of kayak.
A great morning activity to observe flamingos and pelicans in their natural habitat!

It was a great way to explore the lagoon, and see so many flamingos and pelicans! The guide was very informative and mindful not to disturb the wildlife. The kayaks and equipment was great. All and all, we had a terrific morning being out on the lagoon observing all the birds.

It was an excellent trip. Our guide looked after us really well and we saw herons, pelicans and flamingos. Kayaks were a perfect way to explore the lagoon and the area. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Recommend going early to see the birds and avoid the heat.
