Aksdalsvannet is a lake on the west coast of Norway, in Aksdal, Tysvær, near Haugesund city. If you want you can paddle around the entire lake. It is a nice trip that is about 17 km. and gives you a nice nice workout, but you do not have to paddle that far to find nice places to swim, fish or just relax. There are a lot of fish in the water, and mainly trout.

We found our own way from Haugesund to Aksdal bus station, and was then a 15 min walk down to the lake. We were given a short demo and safety instructions before going onto the lake. The lake was beautiful, and we had a great time kayaking around by ourselves for a few hours. When we finished, our host even gave us a lift back to Haugesund, stopping off at a viewpoint. She went out of her way to look after us and would absolutely recommend this activity if you're in Haugesund for the day. You have plenty of time to get there and get back if you plan, and the bus there is cheap. Our host was also responsive and accommodating.

Mamas lake house provides a wonderful experience all round! The guide Turid is helpful and knowledgeable, all the equipment you need is provided and the lake is peaceful and suitable for different abilities. We took this option as an alternative to one offered by the cruise ship, it was a fraction of the price and generally very good value for money. We had a really fabulous day here!

We found this amazing experience by chance searching for alternatives to cruise ship kayak tours, which tend to be sea-based and have minimum ages of 12 or 13 which excluded our 10 year old daughter. We could not have been happier with our find. Aksdalsvannet is a peaceful and beautiful lake and is ideal for a family wanting to experience kayaking. What made the experience even better was the host, Turid, who was extremely friendly, kind and helpful. If I could rate this more than 5* then I would. We had a really enjoyable visit here, and will definitely visit again if in the area. Turid has a range of kayaks to suit different abilities and the lake is suitable for beginner and experienced alike. I cannot recommend this highly enough. You will not regret booking this if you choose to do so.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the kayak excursion because our cruise ship did not call at Haugesund port due to the bad weather. The 5 points are awarded for the very nice contact in advance, as well as the uncomplicated cancellation. We had our money back immediately. Maybe it'll work out another time.

Booked this instead of cruise company alternative and worth every penny. Took the bus from cruise ship to Aksdal with 20 mins walk along the lovely lake on quiet road. One of the most peaceful places for a fantastic kayak with all the family. No time limit, all very relaxed and took a picnic. Host most friendly and plenty of beginner and more experienced kayaks available. Would highly recommend as a much more natural native Norwegian experience at a fraction of the cost than the cruise liner alternative. So glad found this on trip adviser. Thanks so much.

A short taxi ride from the Cruise Port. Easily arranged with a very professional & friendly host. After a quick talk to access our ability we were soon kitted out and off to explore the lake. Great experience
