The Upper Mreznica Canyon is a truly wild and beautiful gem, away from the tourist crowds of Zagreb and Plitvice.

The river forms travertine barriers, so that we have 15 waterfalls on just 3km of river. The highest fall is 8m high - you can jump down into it or walk around. The river creates pools of warm water between the falls, which make for perfect refreshment, and for some easy paddling to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Kayaking is the best way to enjoy this stunning spot of nature, because it combines easy floating down the river with some fun - riding down the waterfalls. Even if you have never done it, believe us, it‘s fantastic and your guide will keep you safe!

Because the water is calm between the falls, and we don't have long sections of paddling, this trip is suitable for almost everyone - children from 6 y.o. up to seniors. On the waterfalls, your guide directs each boat individually, to make sure you get down in a fun and safe way.

What To Expect

Enjoy this wild canyon full of amazing waterfalls, the highest 8m! The river creates pools of warm water between the falls, which make for perfect refreshment. You can even do some canyoning - riding waterslides and jumping down the falls. MOST BEAUTIFUL RIVER IN THIS PART OF CROATIA - 1.5h FROM ZAGREB - 30min FROM PLITVICE LAKES - BEGINNERS CAN PARTICIPATE - CHILDREN FROM 6.y.o. ARE WELCOME When you arrive, you will receive safety gear (and neoprene suits, if necessary), and paddling instructions. Then we will drive you to the start. We will pass waterfalls sometimes on natural waterslides, sometimes by jumping into the lower pool or walking around the cascade, but most of them we can ride down in our kayaks. There are 15 travertine waterfalls on our way. The beginning and the end of the tour are full of action, while the middle section give us some peaceful paddling to enjoy the surroundings. The wild and amazing nature around the river, its waterfalls and differently-coloured pools make kayaking on Mreznica River a most interesting and intensive experience. After getting to the finish, we quickly drive you back to the base, where you can change into dry clothes.

The trip was awesome. Great mix of going over small water falls, drops and rapids. The tandem kayaks were comfortable. Denis was an excellent guide. He was constantly paying attention to our group and helping us through the drops/waterfalls when needed and letting us do it on our own when we could. The scenery is a must see! We drove all the way from Split (3hrs) for this excursion and we are so happy we did!! Great for couples and families.

The kayaking was great - the location is beautiful and the river meant there was a good mix of gentle paddling and exciting falls. The person leading the activity wasn’t very engaged and the group was very big - much bigger than most of the other groups we saw on the river. The start point was also quite a long way from where you actually got in the river, meaning the whole trip took longer than it needed to. I would absolutely recommend doing this, but would maybe pick a company in a better location that has smaller groups.

Thank you Dennis for a super fun Kayaking trip down the Mreznica river. It was well organised and nice number in the group. My family really enjoyed the waterfalls and rock jumping. We felt very safe and appreciated the input from you when needed.

We loved every moment of our experience. Our guide Dennis helped by Alex was very patient. friendly and knowledgeable. We were a family of four and we enjoyed every part of it including the rapids, jumping with the kayak over the waterfalls and the beautiful nature all around. Loved the encounters with turtles and dragonflies all around us.
