Ready for a spicy adventure? Join us in Africa to craft your own hot sauce! You'll get to pick from a selection of peppers, including Jalapeños, Habaneros, and the local favorite, Pili Pili. Our guides will show you how to mix them together just right. Taste as you go until it's perfect!

During the session, we'll chat about how to make your hot sauce taste even better through fermentation, the process that gives it that extra kick. Feel free to add your own twist with extra spices!

Once your sauce is ready, we'll help you bottle it up to take home. It's a delicious souvenir of your time with us, filled with the amazing flavors of Rwanda!

What To Expect

As you arrive, you'll be greeted with a refreshing water bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the experience. Then, it's time to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with the main event. Under the expert guidance of our chefs, you'll learn the art of chili sauce crafting from scratch. First, you'll select your preferred chili peppers from our diverse selection, including the likes of Jalapeños, Habaneros, and the beloved Pili Pili. Armed with a knife, you'll carefully cut and prepare the peppers, experiencing their unique aromas and flavors firsthand. Next comes the blending stage, where you'll mix and match ingredients to create your own custom chili sauce. With the chef's guidance, you'll adjust the flavors to suit your taste preferences, adding extra spices and ingredients for that perfect balance of heat and flavor. But the adventure doesn't end there. You'll also learn about the fascinating process of fermentation, a key step in chili sauce making that adds depth and complexity to the final product. Under the watchful eye of our chefs, you'll begin the fermentation process, setting the stage for your sauce to develop its signature flavor profile over time.

I had an amazing time making hot sauce from scratch with James. He is not only a fantastic chef but also incredibly personable and down to earth. A true man of the people. The class was fun, hands-on, and packed with useful tips. I felt completely comfortable, even without much kitchen experience, and the hot sauce I made was absolutely delicious. I like hot sauce more than I enjoy making hot sauce, so this informative class that was more about learning than doing, was perfect for me. The final result is delicious and packed a punch. James is high energy and has a lot to say. If you're looking for a buttoned up and formal experience, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a fun, relaxed, and informative experience that ends in delicious hot sauce, you'll love this.

Perfect way to spend a few hours in Kigali, owner of the restaurants who shows you the chilli sauce making method is an incredible character, very funny and informative about the entire process. Guides you through not only making hot sauce on the day but processes on how you can start making your own and it’s a very good experience.

Really nice activity, so different from anything else we did in Rwanda. James is so passionate about his profession and he teaches a looot about chilli and sauce making during the activity. Beware that the sauce is really spicy
