What To Expect

Our award-winning tea ceremony in Tokyo offers both cultural enjoyment and meaningful learning. Guided by a professional tea master and friendly staff, you'll observe each step and discover the meaning behind the tools, movements, and traditions of this centuries-old ritual. You’ll also gain insight into the history of the tea ceremony, Japanese culture, and proper tea etiquette. You will then prepare your own bowl of matcha, carefully whisked under the tea master’s guidance. This hands-on moment allows you to experience the calm, focus, and hospitality at the heart of Japanese tea culture. A selection of elegant kimonos is available, and our staff will assist with dressing to ensure a refined appearance. Wearing a kimono enhances the authenticity of your tea ceremony experience. Please note that children under 6 are not permitted. If your group includes a child under 6, we kindly ask that you refrain from booking this activity. Tripods are not allowed during the ceremony. Photo and video recording may be limited—please follow the tea master’s instructions regarding appropriate timing and manners.

  • A+ experience from start to finish

Ceremony was amazing, from start to finish. Everything was explained very well in fluent English. We did end up making and drinking our own tea along with a small plate of 2 sweets. Attendants were very helpful with taking photos with multiple backdrops and multiple poses. Kimono rental was included for the entire day if we wanted to (as a westerner, they were somewhat uncomfortable, so we opted just to wear them for the ceremony). I would highly recommend this activity for anyone interested in Japanese culture visiting the Asakusa area of Tokyo.

Such a fun experience. Easy to find location off the subway. We enjoyed getting dressed in our kimonos and the photo shoot included in the experience. The room and host were both wonderful and we learned a lot. Recommend this to everyone. Entire experience is about 90 minutes.

This was an amazing experience, doing a Japanese traditional tea. From the assistance of getting ready, trying on a traditional kimono to explain in the process and the history of the tea ceremony we thought the experience was absolutely amazing. Would definitely come back here again to bring friends and family.
