Parque Nacional do Quicama
Quiçama National park is located 70 km South of Luanda, taking about 2 hours to get from one point to the other. During the tour we visit Benfica Traditional craft market and the Museum of Slavery. We then continue our way passing by the Miradouro da Lua (Moon’s View Point) where we stay a few minutes to enjoy the view. We carry on towards our main destination where we explore the fauna and flora. After the safari tour we take a boat tour of the Kwanza River which will lead us to the restaurant where we taste the nacional fish based food called Mufete.

I liked the tour very much, quite different, but the animals did not want to show up. Expectative is great in seeing some large size. Excellent lunch at Chilala and nice people in the group, including the guide Silana very polite and concerned with everyone. Driver well prepared and passed security.

The “safari” was more of a rough, loud and disappointing drive. The park was more of an overgrown jungle and the vehicle we road in was so old that several seats were broken. We saw kudu (which were incorrectly called springbok), a few deer and 1 elephant. Once we saw the elephant, the drive ended. The “safari” itself was not worth the time we spent driving to and from Luanda to the park.

The day was really great. The best thing about it was our guide Etson. Such an interesting, friendly, intelligent person. We learnt so much about Angola from him. He is just a natural and makes you feel so at ease and really made the day.

Worth every $ paid. The guide, Mr Armando was extremely kind and attentive showing us every detail about the tour, in addition to a great conversation. They were very attentive serving us water, juice, snacks during the trip to the park. They were timely for pickup on site and provided me with all the information I asked about the tour. Lunch at the Chilala restaurant on the banks of the Kwanza River closed the tour of the Quiçama Park with a golden key. Regional food "very fixed"! I was happy and satisfied.

We decided to visit the Quiçama National Park on a free day and we loved the contact with nature. We were very lucky with this experience, mostly thanks to our guide, Mr. Etson, who accompanied us with great sympathy and shared a lot about Angolan customs, culture and history. The journey started from the hotel to the park. There, we had a lot of fun with the monkeys — super friendly and in large numbers! Then, in a tall, protected car, we took a safari through the forest, looking for animals. We could see elephants, gazelles, buffaloes, monkeys, antelopes... It was amazing! Then we took a walk along the beautiful river Kwanza, where we were able to spot crocodiles. We had lunch at a typical restaurant on the river, where we ate a delicious grilled fish. On the return, we still had time to visit the Angolan coast and enjoy an unforgettable sunset. It was an enriching experience, which left us very eager to return. Thank you so much, Etson, for making this day so special!
