Kite Republic is Melbourne’s original Kiteboarding school, born in 2000 and still the most prominent school on St Kilda’s West Beach. We are passionate about ensuring you have lots of fun whilst being taught to the latest IKO (International Kiteboarding Organisation) standards, and all our instructors are IKO qualified.

What To Expect
KITE PILOT Lesson 80% of kiteboarding is kite control. This important 1st step is the fastest and safest way to develop solid kite skills while learning about the wind, power zones, safety and kiteboarding equipment. The first hour of this lesson is on the beach before heading to the water for another hour of fun, progression, and the beginnings of your new addiction! (2 Hours) HIT THE WATER Lesson Guaranteed addiction… From the safety of the water you will learn powered body drags, how to re-launch your kite and self-rescue techniques. Your goal is safe confident control in the water. (2 Hours) BOARD RIDER Lesson This is the day you get on the board! This lesson is designed to take all the skills you have learned previously and, by adding board skills have you kiteboarding safely and successfully on your own. There is nothing quite like the feeling of your first ride when it all comes together. (2 Hours)

Amazing teacher, but disappointing company

1.00We had paid for a 6 hours day course, and the teacher was amazing. When the lesson began we were told that we weren’t booked for the full 6 hours, but for 4 hours and then we should do the remaining 2 hours some other time - even though we were told on the phone we could do 6 hours. But because of what they recommend we though, sure - and only took the 4 hours instead of 6 and booked the last 2 hours the week after. As for many, they cancelled our lesson and closed do to COVID-19 which is totally understandable. What’s not understandable is them not refunding the last two hours. We have gone back home to Denmark and will not be returning to Australia for the last two hours and not gonna spend it as “store credit”. So that’s money out the pocket. Even more disappointing is they have stopped answering my e mails - hence this review. Pretty sure their company terms says noting about not refunding lessons, that they cancelled, because of a world epidemic.

5.00I absolutely loved my kiting lesson with KR! They’ve sparked a new addiction for me! My instructor was very knowledgeable and has given me the confidence to further my kiting.
